If Mariota is sitting at the Jets pick...

?

If Mariota is sitting there at the Jets pick you'd....

  1. Pick him in a heart beat

  2. Swap with Philly for their 1st (#20) another pick in top 4 rounds and Foles

  3. Swap with any team with a top 20 pick, a 3rd or 4th rounder, and their next year 1st rounder

  4. Would swap, but it would take more than the offers in the poll

You've already been owned on the Connor Cook talk though. Multiple times. Mariota's accuracy, mechanics and decision making >>>. You should be concerned that Cook's career passing% <60%. You're not worth the keystrokes, you just like debating with people about Mariota vs Cook/anyone in 2016 because they're "better and pro-ready"/tree stump. GTFO my dick.

A lot of reports also say they're bluffing.

They are trying to drive up the trade value of the #5 spot in case Mariota slides.

    May I ask why?

Mariota's biggest weakness is the exact same weakness for Petty: not playing in a pro system, being a "system" Qb, etc. Yet Mariota's strengths outnumber Petty's in virtually every facet.

I remember when Geno Smith was going to go in the top half of round one before he slid to us in round 2.

It would be very interesting to watch Chip Kelly pass on Mariota at pick 20.

The look on the kid's face in the green room would be classic.

If that trade would happen, it's got Tennessee (Whisenhunt) written all over it. It wouldn't be a bad move for either franchise, but that would suck for Rivers. Didn't like him at first, but he's shown a lot the past two seasons.

Completion % = Accuracy? I've actually never been owned in regards to that conversation. I am not overly concerned in regards to his accuracy as I have already stated multiple times where that derives from. Go back look at the OSU tape, look at the Baylor bowl game - you will see what he does great and what he needs to improve on.

And yes, if you look at the QBs that have been successfully in this league, how many were spread QBs and how many came from a pro-style offense?

LMAO @ the GTFO my dick comment, do you talk to your mother with that mouth? Let's be mature in regards to this, don't be a little bitch trying to act hard online.

It'll be even funnier when the Jets pass on him when he's OTC for a pass-rusher.

It very much could happen, but I doubt it. Bowles and Mac with Mariota gives them a honeymoon period free from #FireIdzik posters much longer than if they decide not to draft a Qb in the first.

It's just perception, but clearly perception matters for the Jets FO. A hopeful perception of a rookie Qb sitting and learning as Geno or Fitz starts next year creates a lot more fan hope than simply watching Geno or Fits win 8 games with no Qb behind them.

Perhaps but I could see our defensive minded coach falling in love with one of the pass rushers.

If his guy is there he could say "Mariota who?"

Would he do that with Woody looking over his shoulder, pointing at his watch? Maybe.

I'm not saying either decision is a bad one. I just think who we choose in the first round of the draft draft won't be purely a football decision.

They already have a honeymoon period IMO. The GM and HC are both very inexperienced - that will buy them at least 2 seasons unless they royally fuck up the draft in consecutive years. A pass-rusher maybe the final piece to a truly elite defense. What's to say if we build this team now, we can't win next season? Those that want Mariota, in all actuality you read what they post, none of them are concerned about next season and our record. I want to win next season, and I think we can win and get a QB in next year's draft if we happen to pass on Mariota.

You can still build a team and not draft a QB. If the Jets don't like Mariota because he's a project - then he may not be worth that 6th pick right now. They may like other players that can make this team much better next year.

Regardless of who we pick I hope you are wrong.

We don't need outside noise keeping us from taking the best player.

Not necessarily, it depends on what happens next year and if we make the playoffs. Imagine they pass on Mariota and a team below us trades down to Philly. Mariota starts and becomes offensive rookie of the year. This shouldn't matter if we make the playoffs, but if we go 8-8 and the Eagles make it, our fan base may not remain in the honeymoon phase for long.

I'm not saying that will happen, but imagine it does. If our fans can spend real $ to buy FireIdzik signs, I'm sure they could do way worse after just a season of Mac and Bowles.
