So, these are the only contracts you should be comparing IMO since they are the only ones close to one another. Verner has been a big disappointment in his first year in Tampa. Allen is so overrated. Didn't the Steelers have one of the 5 worst pass defenses in the NFL? He was easy pickings this year. I don't see how you can complain about Buster's contract in context with the players near him. I can give you some credence on it being a damn lot to be the third highest-paid corner on your roster, but he is an excellent nickle corner and will actually get to just focus on that role with you guys. He can help the run D, too. Surprisingly effective wrap tackler given his size.
Vinny Testaverde was QB of the Browns from 1993-1995 when the team moved to Baltimore, and stayed there in 1996-1997. But yeah, good point. .
And 0 of his 18 passes defensed were in this category, which was good for 4th in the league. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/defense/sort/passesDefended The pick in the Bengals game was pretty nice: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20141...ameinfo|contentId:0ap3000000424089&tab=videos Yes, sir. Good call.
Say what you want about Rex but he will probably be fielding the top defense in our division this season and it's not just because of inherited players, and that is saying something considering the players we have picked up. Probably whatever team wins between the first Jets/Bills will score a total of 6 points
Skrine is a playmaker, something this defense has very much lacked over the years, outside of Revis and Cro and even then, neither really had a boatload of picks. Skrine was actually one of my favorite non-Jet players in the league. Scrappy, fun to watch when all the focus was on Haden and Gipson. He plays very much like Tyrann Mathieu. I have a feeling Skrine is going to become a fan favorite rather quickly.
i was wondering what the over/under line would look like for those games.. i'm very confident both the Jets and Bills will be among the top defenses in the league. and neither team is settled by any means with a QB answer. old school ugly football in store. should be fun to watch.. edit: whichever team's QB manages to turn the ball over less, is probably the team that will win...
No need to sell / educate me on Skrine. I think he's a nice young player with upside and am glad he's on the team. The amount of guaranteed money and cap charge in year 2 of the deal seem like a bit much, though. Yeah, I saw that Bengals game. He also had a nice high-point PD on AJ Green in the end zone late in the year if I'm not mistaken.
Then he should have went and signed with those 8 teams. But he didn't because we were the only suckers paying 25 million for a slot covering guy. Who does that except us. What a waste of cap dollars.
