Will he really prove that? I think my week old son could probably coach this defensive roster to a top 5 ranking.
I'm just saying what's been reported. You're right, though, it doesn't have to be that way. I highly suspect we got Gilchrist so Pryor could play in his natural position, however. Allen will continue covering tight ends, though.
He proved that on the Cardinals. I'm not sure if you watched any Cardinals games, but with all of the defensive injuries last year and the elite play of the team, Bowles proved that he has an incredible defensive mind. I'm way more worried about his offensive acumen.
No disagreement with anything you wrote above. However, I'm not sure having success with this potential defense the way it looks on paper would prove he is a better defensive mind than Rex. Hence, my questioning the poster's claim that Bowles "will" prove Rex is overrated.
Agreed, the only way Bowles can prove he's a better defensive mind is if Rex's defense on the Bills regresses for some reason.
Bowles will prove what you can do with superior secondary talent.......something Rex has been saying for years... if anything, Bowles is about to prove what a fool Idzik was for not hearing that. in terms of straight up comparison, it has to be to our '09 D. new first year HC, plenty of defensive talent. let's hope the outcome is similar.
I'm not sure anybody knows exactly what that is and he has made the pro bowl the last three years in a row. I would bet you would have a tough time finding another CB who has done that making less.
Have you seen his contract? How do you know it is 8M a year? What if it is 5,5,11,11 and only the first two years guaranteed? Nobody knows anything about his deal except that it is 32M for 4 years.
Which? 8/yr? If it is a straight 8 a year and more than this year is guaranteed I agree it is too much but I want to see it myself before I go crazy about it.
I think Moore would ask for more money. Like in the 5 category. Plus Gailey knows Fitz and had a lot of success with him. Fitz could be a good acquisition. Esp if he can keep the pick to TD ratio down which he improved on last season. But apparently O"Brien preferred the two ex Brady backups over him.
Here I disagree. The trade was the smart move. Not only did it lock Fitz up, it did so at a lower number than he would have likely gotten in FA. It was really a trade of a lower round conditional for getting him on board for less money.
If you look at the numbers Cb's in FA have been signing for, Cro's number is not really all that out of line. It's an important position, especially where your CS needs Cb's who play man.
This. Rex's system is a lot like Bowles'...it relies on DB's. When you gut his DB's and don't give him good linebackers on top of that, the system won't work. Bowles will have a top 3 defense (maybe even the top defense) because he has the players to run his system, which Idzik never gave Rex. However, make no mistake, if Rex was given this talent last year (which he could of had), the defense would have been elite too..
Looks like Skins gave Chris Culliver a similar contract (lets assume guarantees end up close) - would you rather have Culliver or Cro?
