Mayock just said the best pro day he has ever seen was Jamarcus Russell you cant put any stock into these things
Im so down on the possibility of Fitz or Geno starting that I would hope that if we took a flyer on Mannion or Grayson that they could beat them out
Well I am about 90 percent certain we are not getting MM but i am also that sure we will take a QB in the first 3 rounds
This black guy is a moron. Mariota isnt gonna sit 2 years...if he is then he's never gonna play in the NFL. The sitting first round rookie QBs ship sailed a decade ago
I don't think pro day matters but I'd rather him look good if we are going to take him. I don't get being excited over a poor showing. He has a lot of question marks that Bridgewater didn't have.
Geno also had no weapons and had a shaky at times oline, dealing with that as well as the adjustment to the NFL is brutal, Tom Brady would look like crap if he had our arsenal the past few years I remember years where no WR had a prayer to get open even with 4-5 secs available, Kerley at times was our best WR, that's a crime.
I really dont think Geno can be a star. But he has had games where he randomly plays amazing. There are soo many guys who just dont have that ability to pull an amazing game out of there ass. So i think he at least deserves a chance in this new offense with actual talent around him
Mac has built a better team not a win bow team. None of the moves front load money or createit's of future dead money. He is paying as he goes
I think what Kevin Gilbride said was interesting in that the angle of his long throws needs improvement to be able to throw against NFL corners. Certainly something that sounds as if it can be corrected, but perhaps good insight to the type of things true football people are looking at during these exhibitions. I do remember them saying similar things about "Johnny Football." That said, if this leads to him slipping, I think he is a Jet unless they see something they really don't like. Personally I think the Titans will take Leonard Williams, who I think is the best prospect in the draft.
If we don't get or want MM, what about Bryce Petty in round 2? I watch no college football, but my brother does and he mentions Petty as a good prospect. We draft an edge rusher with 6--sure up a possibly dominant D, get Petty in round 2, and address O-line in round 3. We let Fitz and Geno battle it out, and hope that either Geno plays well enough with another year under his belt, some more weapons, and hopefully an improved O-line, or Fitzpatrick has a kind of Alex Smith revelation. Either one could make us a dangerous team with the way this D is shaping up. We groom Petty in the meantime and hope we catch lightning in a bottle.
The only thing I learned from watching this pro day was that there's an overt Oregon bias in the media...Mariota only played so well because of the system says the useful idiots...yet we know Jameis is great because its a "pro style offense" despite the fact he sucked in every first half this season.
And yet I think Mariota is a better prospect than Bridgewater. I'm no expert, but if the experts (our GM, etc.) feel the same way, I hope they take him at the 6th. No trading up, though. I agree with you there.
