draft a qb until u get a franchise one if the front office thinks he can be good take him if it doesn't work out take a qb again
This is silly. Bridgewater fell to the 32 almost exclusively because of a poor pro day. Pro day means next to nothing, honestly. It's throwing in shorts. I think Mariota is a pretty good player who may have had a poor pro day (I didn't watch so I don't know). I hope he falls to 6, whether or not we want to draft him. Who wouldn't want that?
Does anyone have faith in Petty? i mean we could probably get him in the 2nd or trade up from our second to earlier then or late 1st to get him..... i dont think MM is a possiblity ...sigh
This is all a moot discussion because barring a trade up we aren't getting him...it wouldnt matter if he missed every throw in this pro day. Tennessee is desperate for a QB and they're gonna take him...same can be said for us and the redskins but they pick first
The difference is he is used to that kind of game day environment. This pro day atmosphere is pretty artificial and probably awkward. Manziel hit a home run in his pro day last year but was a disaster in live game action for the Browns.
Does anyone see us getting "The guy" in even the next few years? i sadly am starting to think it isnt going to happen. we will be good enough now not to get that high of a pick but mediocre enough to not go to the big game or be dominant...
Really? He just dropped $50M on the best names in free agency. That's the definition of building a win now team. And he got the best vet QB he possibly could and still has his #6 pick. We could have the #1 defense in the NFL for the next 2 seasons. After that, it comes apart. Make no mistake.....Mac is all in.
Did you think Bridgewater would be picked 32 overall last year? Are you best friends with Tennessee's GM? What exactly makes you think this? Honestly I can't really see Whisenhunt drafting a Qb like Mariota.
Youre like the media. You take one line regurgitate ad nauseam. Even that line, doesnt make sense. If you knew anything about ken wisenhunt, its that he does not like rookie qbs, he likes vets, look at his track record. They dont need 2 developmental qbs. Washington has cousins and rg3 they dont need a rookie qb because guess what? They dont get any better taking him. He will be there at 6, hell possibly way later than that.
If Mariota plays like a Jet, he has a great mentor in Geno Smith who can teach him the ropes into being a professional NFL Quarterback. We still need to wait and see Mayock's mock the night before the NFL Draft. He was the 1st to call Johnny Manziel to the Cowboys.
"The guy" will be Marcus Mariota IMO. If Fitzpatrick or Geno can hold the fort for a while, and lead us to an 8 and 8 record or so, I don't see why Mariota would be forced to play early on in his career... we have a good enough roster to do what Cleveland did last season.
Not if we draft well and sign our guys. We really just need Revis to stay healthy and Milliner and/or one of our younger CBs to learn the position. Then we need to re-sign either Mo Wilk or Richardson and continue drafting. I agree he spent a lot of money, but part of that is because we HAVE to spend the money this season; plus it's not like we are in cap hell next season whatsoever. We won't be in cap hell, honestly, until we find a Qb who we have to pay $20 million.
I am not particularly optimistic. Which is why I understand fans wanting to pull the trigger on Mariota. There is a possibility he could be "the guy." I don't really have a strong conviction on Mariota either way. To me, if I had to guess right now, I'd say he looks like Ryan Tannehill.
exactly but we cant get him... i feel like this is our only chance to find "the guy" we will get in the next few years, so do whatever it takes to get him then hope it was the right choice
