Don't forget we HAD to spend money this offseason. No better way to spend money than the way we did in 2015. It's been an exciting 7 days starting w/ the Marshall trade. Idzik would have fucked this up royally.
This is a very good point and furthermore, the guys that have been brought onto the team are wily vets who may assist are younger guys in developing (Marcus Williams, J Jarrett, maybe a young WR or two and whoever we draft)
It's kind of hilarious, on Monday we were looking at Idzik 2.0, since Tuesday 4 pm it's been (insert praising nickname for MacCagnan), and by November it will be "why the hell don't they put in Simms". The night is still young though.
Need? We all think it would be desirable, but I don't think the Jets have any easy answers available here. Coples imo is part of the problem. If he was playing up to his draft status, HE would be the answer. But at the same time he has not been, it is too early to see him as a bust, and he does a half assed job good enough to stay in the rotation. I also buy into the idea that with this DL and the improved secondary, the LB's are not so critical in the pass D. Bowles plays a lot of nickel and dime. That means less LBs on the field. Hopefully Coples makes more of a contribution here.
There is a big difference since we had the Revis/Cro tandem before and we had one of the best secondaries in the league
Shit, if it were my wife, she'd already be back in NYC looking for a Penthouse Condo with a river view.
Geno is going to surprise some people this year. I don't think he'll ever be a star, but similar to Eli Manning, he'll be just good enough to lead us to a ........ (yeah, I know, playoffs first)
This defense could get nasty. Not sure about you...but I like where we're going. Todd is the new Rex.
It's true that clueless Jets fans want the wow factor. And the bigger the salary the happier they are. But so far I haven't seen any bad move. We're not giving up high draft choices and the vet players we are obtaining aren't killing our cap except for Revis who is an impact player and one of the best D players in the NFL. And he's a Jet. Maybe he can help Bowles to coach us up after spending a year with a great HC not a bag of wind.
You have to wonder what's going thru Rexy's mind today. We now have the corners he needed last year to save his job. We actually have the GM he needed last year to be successful too. Just like most things in life, timing is everything..
We were tied for 6th in sacks in the NFL last year with a Division 3 secondary, pass rush will improve just from the quarterback not having a guy open in .3 seconds
Shit...miss Ryan but he's got his own shiny new toy to play with up there in the North...I'm pretty sure he isn't sweatin' us.......right now.
