I'd imagine he gets resigned next season, at the maximum we have him for 2 more seasons. I think management would like to see him play first.
We know so little about what is going on behind the scenes. For all we know they've come to an agreement and are just waiting to announce it. Judging by some of Big Mo's tweets, he's ok with what is going on right now. (whatever that is, we don't know)

Sounds like he's being light-hearted about it, I'm glad he's not angry. Although having Mo playing angry in a contract year would be scary for opposing offenses.
Don't get me wrong, I love Wilkerson. But, if I'm Maccagnan, I don't see any big rush to extend him. I have a valuable asset under contract at a low price this year. And, I have a franchise tag to work with in year two. And, I have Richardson coming along one year behind him. I'm not sure if I will be able, or want to, keep both players long term. A lot depends on what other opportunities come along in the next 12 months. I want to keep my options open. Mo, as much as I love him as a player, is going to have to wait.
It is not inconceivable that the Jet FO, Mac in particular, have not been able to focus on Wilkerson's deal because of all the FA activity.
