After Revis signed, I didn't want Cro back because I thought the $$ could be spent better elsewhere. But I was OK with it when it looked like he was gonna sign the past 48 hours. I don't care one bit about what he gets paid this year, but if he has substantial guarantees beyond this year, then that's a real bad contract that has way more downside than upside.
lol you guys continue to look at these contracts at their full length. Anytime these deals get signed, I basically divide by 2. Most of these guys (the older ones) don't see the backend of these contracts. Revis deal is essentially a 3 year deal worth $50 mill. Cro's likely around 2 for 17-18...and I'm sure the cap hit if he needs to be released is MUCH easier to do sooner than later if need be. I'm not worried at all about the deal.
Absolutely. Arizona had a fantastic D and Cro played a part of that. People who think Geno is the worst QB in the NFL never watched Ryan Lindley play. What the Cardinals accomplished with their D last year was awesome.
Uh, maybe you don't spend the $8 mil on another corner when you have needs at OL, S, RB and pass rush?
Absolutely. No doubt. Just still worried about safety. Maybe we can get Gilchrist on board now for cheap
Do you think its possible.... and i know im reaching here.... but maybe.... just maybe Cro will be in that same system this year? nevermind, im talking crazy.
There's a thing called the NFL Draft, I don't know if you've heard of it. Deep RB class and pass rushing class.
We have enough money to still sign a safety. HBs are a dime a dozen we can easily get one cheap in FA/trade/day 2 of the draft we have #6 and #38 to fill OL/Pass rush
All can be addressed in the draft. And Safety could still be signed this afternoon. The secondary now is one of the strongest pieces on this team. It went from the weakest to the strongest. This is a passing league where you will have to play Andrew Luck, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, etc. Having a stout secondary like this not only opens up Bowles defense, but it allows us to keep the game managed. Keep it close to give our offense a chance. This is a huge signing on so many levels
Well said. I think I read somewhere that Bowles used 6 or more DB's on like 55% of plays last year. That is ridiculous. He likes to blitz with safeties, he likes to disguise coverages, and he likes to have multiple (and versatile) DB's out there at all times. He now has 5 good to great CB's, Pryor, and probably Gilchrist. It's going to be fun watching this defense next year. Once you add a pass rusher (they will definitely draft one or two), to the line and whats already here, and this might be the best defense in the NFL next year. The moves definitely filled needs and made us better. And with what was done on offense (and whats coming in the draft), I think this can be a very, very dangerous team this year.
A typo would be spelling cornerback "conerback" or "cornerbck". Thinking a player plays safety when he really plays cornerback is not a typo.
