i don't have a great read on Gilchrist, but if Bowles is intrigued, than there must be something to it. what did you like on film? he hasn't rated out particularly well in any one area. but does seem like a guy who could play interchangeable S roles, and maybe provide some versatility back there.
Yards is meaningless. Tracked stats that really sow how good a defense is are opposing points PER PLAY opposition 3rd down effeciency, opposition red zone efficiency, defensive turnovers. Last year's Jets were bad at all these. Cling to yardage if you insist, but we were a BAD defense last year.
To be honest, Gilchrist has been pretty underwhelming his entire career. Talented, but not realized. I'd much rather see Rahim Moore in green and white.
between yds and red zone efficiency, you'll see how good a team is defending a long field, how they are at getting off the field, and how good they are defending a short field when it counts. agreed 3rd down efficiency, even 4th down efficiency, and turnovers all play an important factor too. can't just look at one stat and see everything. also agreed we struggled last year on D, and almost every stat which relates to coverage will show this.
The Jets are still reaching out to safeties. Have the Marcus Gilchrist talks stalled? http://t.co/K3zlDeeaHE
Yeah, has Moore visited any team? I haven't heard of any interest in him on either the Jets' part, or any other team. The same goes for Kendrick Lewis and Louis Delmas. They're not great players, but are true FS types and are pretty good.
I would be down for Louis Delmas, thought he was good with the Lions, didnt watch him with Miami though
He has pretty good coverage ability, he is fluid in his angles, and it seems like he is a tough tackler. He has flaws but overall I think he would be a nice addition at FS.
sounds like a poor mans McCourty, which is definitely appealing. didn't SD use Weddle in centerfield tho?
I don't know, I think there gonna start getting tight with money now as they have the draft coming up, Wilkerson needs to be addressed and right after that Richardson. I'm guessing there last semi big contract will be cro, and I'm guessing he's going to be in the 4/5 mill range short term.
I think I read that Moore is close to signing with Houston, but keep in my mind we were close to signing Gilchrist and obviously that remains to be seen.
I don't think so. I think Browner is more valuable right now. Cro is probably a step below in that 4-5 mil range or at the most right where Browner is in terms of compensation.
