I was thinking more along the lines of the shifty fellas that always seem to be an issue operating out of the slot. I'm not the student some of you guys here are so I take your word for the overall size. If thats the case than I wonder about some of the things I read from Browns fans talking about his troubles with bigger WR as the reason for his penalties.
yea our around that number there are 32 team in the nfl with 2 starters..there were atleast 15 better f/a options then him and i hear ya, i understand slot corners are important im not arguing there..but we are paying him to much!! he should not be the 17th averaged paid corner in the nfl...we are paying for upside, and if we are signing cro also we could have went into the draft for a nickel back
I don't see us addressing the CB position for a long time now, but I do understand your concerns in regards to price. Hopefully he lives up to the billing. I am glad however, we are acquiring veterans at this position. I would rather take the picks we have and address other positions.
Ok, even if that's true, it's irrelevant to the discussion of salary. How many of those 60 guys were signed as UFAs?
easily one of the hardest transitions from college to the pros too. These programs in college, they are so much about their scheme that these kids don't practice all facets of being a CB. Glad we aren't spending a high pick on a CB.
because if there are 30 corners better then him...we shouldntbe paying him more just cause we needed a corner... we need a qb so are we going to extend fitzpatrick to top 15 qb money? no.. each player has some sort of "value"..BUSTER SHOULDNT BE THE 17TH HIGHEST PAID CORNER THATS ALL IM GETTING AT HE IS OUR 3RD CORNER
You can yell all you want, but that's not the way a collectively bargained league with mandatory wage scaling for 3-4 years works.
what does the bargained areement for a rookie player contract have anything to do with making buster the 17th highest corner in the nfl

Brandon Carr, Patrick Peterson, Verner and Cortez Allen are REALLY overrated corners - if Buster plays well, I think you can justify Buster having that pay-day.
yes there not worth there contracts..but there still very good and upper teir players at there postion..buster is not and again..he contract is stupid..almost every outlet has said its a bad contract except for this forum...its a awful deal bottem line
2 of Buster's 4 INTs last year were on tipped passes that basically fell into his lap. He is fast and athletic with good ball skills, and I liked him as a low-budget-with-upside alternative to the sexier names, but the final price tag does seem exorbitant. I trust Bowles though. He knows what he wants out of the CB position, and he must believe Skrine can deliver.
We will see. All of the CBs are getting paid a nice penny. He's only making 13M guaranteed so chances are he doesn't see that entire contract.
http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-10-worst-free-agent-deals-so-far/ Funny, I don't see Buster on this list. Indications out of CLE was that he was a hard worker. Seems like he needs work on his technique, with Revis in the building he's going to get better.
Bowles must have something up his sleeve in regards to how he plans on using Skrine. I mean, we pounced on him pretty quickly, and for a pretty dollar too.
Brian Bassett @Brian_Bassett 6m6 minutes ago For those worrying about future cap space ... don't. Cap could realistically go to $170 million by 2018.
