From what I've heard down in DC he has no ability to read defenses or change calls at the line and they aren't sure he'll ever be able to do so.

If we're going for overrated injury prone QBs I much rather get Bradford.

He had a good rookie season. But his body can't withstand the hits because of his style and inability to not take a hit. I don't think Wash really wants another running Qb and Griffin has more talent than MM. A 4th could do it even without Mariota. This board would be buzzing if they did it.

While I give RG3 the edge in physical tools, Mariota definitely seems like the more intelligent player.

I'd probably go with intelligence over physical tools.

I don't think the 'skins will take Mariota as I think a lot of it is smoke and mirrors. They want to see the Eagles trade as much as possible away which they would have to do so with the Titans, Raiders or Jaguars being in the top 4 vs. the Jets at 6.

I hope that is true, I think drafting mariota or drafting a petty/grayson and having them be able to contribute and play well would put the cap on what is turning out to be one of the best off seasons for any team in recent memory. (also assuming we pick up a good safety and a speedy play maker like spiller

i wouldnt give more then a conditional 4th rounder for him that becomes a 6th or 7th if he loses time to injury.

he is just too big a risk to stay healthy. and hasnt proven enough on the field yet. id take a flier, but i wouldnt give much for him

i wouldnt trade up for mariotta. if he is there i take him, otherwise im not selling our picks to go up a couple spots and take him. there are too many talented guys left at 6 and too many needs to move up. id rather move down to be honest.

Are any of those other guys QBs?

Then you move up if you have to.

that is irrelevant. those other guys would fill major needs, while also allowing us to use the later selections we didnt trade away to fill even more holes and depth.

It would be one thing to move up for someone like luck, a cant miss guy. Mariotta isnt cant miss and isnt worth 1/3/6

Correct. Mariota has excellent skills, it's the intelligence that makes the difference.

I wouldnt trade up for him either, but I would like to have some kind of contingency plan for a developmental/ potential starting QB other then geno/fitz.
