Feel free to post your acknowledgements here that you were stone cold dead wrong for the last year or two or three if you were one of the people who swore that Woody Johnson hated Revis, his agents, his family, his shoes and his haircut and would never allow their shadows to ever again darken his path. Anyone else who posted similar "facts" that are "general knowledge" or "everyone knows" about anything going on with this franchise feel free to sign in here also. Here's hoping that everyone will think twice before before trying to pass off their pure speculation as anything more. Unless, of course, they really know what's going on instead of just thinking they do.
I'm not sure why people thought this. Clearly the reason we didn't get him last year was because we were run by a GM who was scared of spending money.
I was optimistic about what was going to happen but I really was starting to feel some pangs of anger about what could happen, I blame the NFL and their stupid Legal Tampering Period tho
Woody didn't hate Revis, Tanny did. The hold outs and his agent was pissing everyone off but Woody. I still ask why not sign him last year for less? Idzik was a fool and had his own agenda.
I truly believed Woody gave specific orders that he didn't want Revis back after he was cut by the Bucs and I still do. Woody was of the mindset that he was not going to be able to negotiate with Revis' agent and I believe he didn't even want to entertain the thought. I think that after hearing all the fan reaction as to the knock on them that they didn't try and bring him back in the fold, along with the terrible demise of the secondary after last season, opened Woody's eyes to just how much we needed Revis back in green & white.
Now that it's a done deal you have to give credit where credit is due. Woody was way out in front on Revis this offseason which deflected the heat away from his new FO. Maybe Woody is such a bad owner after all! Not as dumb as a post many fans are fond of repeating ad nauseam.
Woody still hates dealing with Revis's agents and that will never change but he has always loved Revis himself.
Nothing will come of that, he was asked a question and he gave an honest answer. He didn't instigate anything. At most maybe a small fine.
The train wreck that owns this team does not deserve mea cupas just because he finally found his wallet for Revis.
Save this for after they win a SB. Woody record in case U R not keeping track is 0-15 now & should climb to 0-16 after this season is over
I think there was animosity by Woody against Revis due to the holdouts and not honoring backloaded deals that he had agreed to. Woody even admitted this at his presser. I think he pushed for the trade to TB after the Revis injury. Which was a good deal for the Jets. And was the force in not re-signing Revis in 2014. He and Idzik were strongly criticized for this esp after NEP signed DR and won a SB with him. In my opinion he tied Idzik's hands on this.
I would agree with this. First of all, the Pats controlled his rights. If they paid him, he was theirs. Second, if the league were really looking into this an were going to punish the Jets, they would have voided the contract and not permitted the Jets to sign him. _
You mean you overreacted to what you saw and formed erroneous opinions on it and passed them off as common knowledge?
Based on what? And what do you think caused his epiphany allowing him to do this 180? It certainly has to be more than just poor play in 2014.
You are right to point this out--Revis is about $$ but he's also about respect--Woody provided both early on--seriously awesome leadership shown by WJ
Woody saw that he trusted his guys Tanny/Idzik who were not good at handling the negotiations with Revis. And also Revis proved Woody wrong. He is worth that money, HOWEVER in the current market the case can be made for it. Back when he wanted that money no other CB was close!
Based on exactly what Woody said during that "tampering" interview . He said "I never thought we'd work out a deal with his agents". I believe the negotiations that lead to him being traded to Tampa put a sour taste in Woody's mouth and he didn't think they'd be able to hammer out a deal .. Then after last seasons debacle and questions as to why they didn't go get Revis last year, he changed his mindset and knew he had to get him back. Just my feelings on the matter, that's all.
