PFF numbers are borderline useless when it comes to corners and safeties. Rahim Moore is my top choice but Gilchrist isn't bad. He's more of a SS if I remember correctly which is what we DON'T need.

he's a borderline NFL player playing at SS which time and again the past five years we've insisted we've had enough of and that what we really need is a ballhawk FS! Not mutually exclusive, but have heard way more rumors about Jets interest in SS than FS

Would much rather Rahim Moore but I guess Gilchrist would come cheaper.

Gilchrist is a SS though. Moore is a FS.

Whoever we sign Id like it to be so that Pryor can play SS.

Gilchrist was originally drafted by San Diego in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He attended Clemson and played at cornerback during college.

The 26-year-old Gilchrist has made 40 starts in 62 career appearances. 32 of those starters came in the past two seasons. He's recorded a total of five interceptions, 16 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, three sacks, and 193 tackles in his four-year career.

on the free agent rankings I have seen he is lower ranked than either of our existing Safeties....

Good for depth signing, nothing more honestly. I wonder if he was a victim of not staying at a position where he never solidified himself and thus had some rough moments in San Diego.

Another shit signing by the Jets. They better have something up their sleeve because early returns ain't looking so rosy. You don't just sign shit players to save money when those players are marginal at best. Lets hope there is a plan because I'm not seeing it yet.

I really like Gilchrist. In fact I want him more than CRO although I would like both. It would deifnitely be ridiculous to sign Gilchrist as a CB as opposed to them thinking he will play safety. If they sign CRO:

Revis, Cro, Milliner, Marcus Williams (looked good last year), Walls, McDougle. That's straight up depth. There's no need for Gilchrist at CB if CRO is a done deal.

I guess I don't know much about him but I remember how down we were with Cromartie when we got him from San Diego. I'm not convinced that the Chargers know how to put their players in the best position to excell, be it the secondary or their running backs. They seem to go elsewhere and shine much more.
I need to defer to Bowles. I got to believe he either has a plan for him at free safety, or their is something else in the works we are not privy to. Same applies to the role of the Boston Terrier....I have a gut feel that Bowles will experiment with them and McDougle for the FS spot.

I would be a fan of signing Gilchrist (have to get that out there so Falco doesn't get his panties in a bunch) but I'm just wondering when we are going to start addressing other areas of the field. We can't just assume that everything will be available in the draft.

    Which areas.

    I see 3

    1) OLB
    2) OLine Depth
    3) Blocking Te
(Obviously Qb is a 4th area, I guess).

Some of that can definitely be found in the draft.
