This is a once and a lifetime deal. I'd love to see what Brees can do with Marshall and Decker. This has to get done.
On surface, looks like no brainer. Jets are not in realistic position for brees unless he restructures. Plus, add his age and mediocre play outdoors and it would be odd to trade. If we were literally a QB away, I'd do it. But, we're not
I'd gladly trade for Brees. With our current roster, adding Brees would make us a top contender. But has anyone looked at his current contract? His current cap number is $26.4m.
I don't know what the hell you people think this team needs to get over the hump. I acknowledge the question marks about brees outdoors, but I think it's incredibly overstated.
A non-verified twitter that looks like its trying to rip off an NFL Network twitter handle and a story so incredibly significant that hasn't been sniffed by a proven beat writer, at least not that I've seen. Truly fascinating.
Saints fans would burn there season tickets in mass. If they are dumb enough to trade him, make it so!
I remember back when Parcells first got to the Jets there were rumors that the Cowboys were shopping Troy Aikman. Jets fans were calling Francesa non-stop that day on WFAN. Finally, he cut someone off and was like, (paraphrase) "Listen, if Aikman were actually available, Bill would drive down to Dallas himself to pick him up and drive him back to the Meadowlands. But there's no way the Cowboys are shopping a Hall of Fame QB around the league. They are more valuable than the other 10 offensive starters combined." I think the same principle applies here. If Brees is available, you trade your whole draft for him and pay him whatever he asks for. But so would at least 10 other teams in the league. Because every year he's on your team, regardless of the rest of your personnel, you're in the Super Bowl conversation. Also this. He's the most popular person in the state of Louisiana and could get elected Governor in a landslide if he wanted to be. The Saints ownership/management would never recover if they traded him.
I see your point. Even with all of that, cap hit will be off the roof for Brees unless he renegotiates. I think he counts for like 26 million against cap. Not feaaible for us to sign him
36 year old QB that plays for a team that seems be in a rebuild. I would happily surrender Geno and next years first for him.
Welcome to Monday, guy. There has never been a single confirmation that he is on the trading block and the source that first reported it is a fraudulent Twitter account.
I would surrender this years and next years first for the guy, would definitely make us contenders to win the AFC East with a QB like him, but it's not going to happen.
