I don't know about you guys, but my sentiment is: Nobody wins the championship in March. Winning free agency with splashy signings isn't a guarantee for success. That said: 1. Both CB spots have been filled, costly as it was. Now, a decent FS will make this secondary scary once again. One mitigating factor for Revis signing is, Jets cut Harvin; and his 10M price too. In short, Jets are employing Revis this year at mere 4M salary at the expense of Harvin. I can't say no to this one. 2. James Carpenter signed - and Jets need another OG to shore up the OL. They can go with a draft pick, or FA. They certainly didn't break the bank for this position, so I feel good about this. Hopefully they find another gem. 3. Brandon Marshall upgrades the entire receiving corps, as that relegates Decker back to his familiar #2 spot. It happened at the cost of round 5 pick. 4. Now, the worry part. Jets have Richardson and Wilkerson contract coming up very soon, along with Harrison contract. [Wilk and Snacks contract will explode next season.] I was hoping Jets would lock up both guys this off-season, but that didn't happen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So Mac filled a few pressing needs in spades. Jets now need help in QB and OLBs. With all the distractions away, they can draft Mariota and let him grow.
We gotta get a stop gap QB, and maybe bring in Worilds for a fair deal (haven't heard his name mentioned anywhere). That would give us complete flexibility in the draft to either draft BPA or make a trade.
Go get Marcus Gilchrist for FS Draft OLB rd 1 Draft depth position (wr/ol) rd 2.. QB is too late if Mariotta is gone
Very satisfied so far. There were guards I liked better than Carpenter but it seems like he made a good run at them and it just didn't work out. If the Jets add Gilchrist, that will fill the final remaining major hole outside of OLB, where there's a ton of potential talent at #6 in Gregory, Ray, Fowler, etc.
Currently at around ~128M. Still about 15m free. Even if they save some for the rookies, Jets can still get 2 quality players.
They should really throw the rest on the offensive line, need depth at rb too Of course if this Brees rumor is true everything changes
Need a QB still. Who is available? With the Texans trading Keenum, are they going to hold onto Fitzpatrick? As much as I'm not super stoked with Fitzpatrick, the Jets need to address a solid stop gap guy in case Geno pisses in his own sock again. Matt Moore perhaps? I haven't heard his name come up today. Don't want Ponder, he has the age, but he's a turnover machine.
Have to imagine he was none too happy about the trading of Graham. Brees, may have requested a trade; but it is all speculation
Sounds like Cro may be willing to take a discount to come back But signing of Skrine probably nailed any possibility of that happening
