The Jets gave up an extra 3rd down conversion once every 20 attempts as compared to the Pats. That's less than once a game. Just saying.
Pretty much what I was saying by asking Anyone can tweet anything so hopefully we keep it credible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly which player is it that you want that we will not be able to afford if we pay Revis? Who are we missing out on?
The jets can be right back in he mix very quickly. Let the trolls complain if we sign revis. Come the reg season they'll stfu. We are on the brink of a huge offseason...or a crapper of an offseason. Could go either way! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Besides the fact that contract hasn't been associated w any legit source. Assuming it's true I wouldn't hate it either. It's frankly not terrible. Works out to 13 mil per year...it's not overpaying Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Make him play out this season, franchise him next season, sign him in 2017 when the cap will be even higher. Signing Revis in no way shape or form cripples the Jets from a salary cap standpoint. It doesn't even really hurt them that much. People act like it's their money or something.
problem is 75% of a teams success is linked to QB play and the Jets never seem to get it right. drives me nuts when these talking heads experts talk about the Patriot Way or how amazingly the Packers or Steelers are run - remove the top tier QB from any of those teams and they would be no different to the vast majority of teams in the NFL - being deemed a genius coach or GM in the NFL seems to be not much more than getting lucky in recruiting a top QB.
Where are we at now after three signings today, $25M? Personally, Revis is awesome but we have too many holes to fill in my opinion. With whatever spending we have left, we still need depth at many areas. We definitely need to improve our secondary, and Revis will definitely gives us that. However, I am concerned with the lack of depth at LBs, pass rushers, OL and WRs that we may not be able to fill in signing a big contract with Revis...But if we get him, great, I'll be happy and hope we have a huge successful draft.
I've warmed to the idea of paying Revis $48M over the next 3 years. Even with Skrine, Carpenter, and Powell getting signed, the Jets will still have plenty of money to spend to fill some holes with solid players and a veteran quarterback. Sometimes you have to spend for a great player at a need position.

It's not just about this year though, Next year and the year after the Jets don't have NEARLY as much free cap space and it's going to hurt 2016 and 2017 rosters. 2015 we have the cap room, that's not the case with MO getting extended and Richardson being in Mo's place next season in terms of needing to be extended, among others.
When you don't have a franchise QB on the team, and probably wont have one for the next three years, you can afford to spend the money elsewhere, especially on the best CB in the NFL.
