I understand completely where you're coming from, but I'm out on Kap. I'd be giddy if news broke that they were getting a single digit, 2015 1st rounder back, though. Then sad because Linden's own was leaving home.
We're not winning jack shit without a QB, especially with Geno. Why spend so much money on a 30 year old CB who wants QB money and had major knee surgery? Spend the money on the holes you need filled, first. We're losing out on a lot of players because we're not ready to compete, yet with no QB.
Look at Kap's first 3 years and then compare them to people like Flacco and Brees. You don't play as well as he has over 3 seasons if you're a bad QB. There are warts to be sure but he's one of the most likely young QB's to win a couple of rings before he's done. He's probably only behind Wilson and Luck and that's because Wilson is on the best team in football and already has one.
You don't give up on seasons while you wait to find a QB. You have to try to compete on defense for now and hope someone like Fitzpatrick has a career year. Or, maybe Mariota falls into your lap.
Mo isn't going anywhere, the Jets are negotiating with him right now and there hasn't been a single sign that he won't be a Jet for the next 5 years. I've figured out that you like outside the box scenarios but the few I have seen you come up with are far from realistic
word is Revis has a 3 year 48M deal on the plate with 40M guaranteed. If that's the case it damn well better not be the Jets.
The Jets can sign Worilds and Cro while still signing Revis. Your OP is for once not trolling though so I give you a shred of credit
What other big holes do the Jets have to fill? The Jets are a pretty talented team, their problem in recent seasons is that they have been incredibly weak at 2 key positions. QB and CB. Revis fills a huge need
Maybe the advanced analysis shows something, because I admittedly have not looked into that side of him, but living in the Bay and watching his games every Sunday this past season when he was supposed to be developing into more of a drop back pocket guy, his decision making and skittishness reminded me an awful lot of my experience watching Sanchez. Again, that may be entirely visceral and not indicative of reality, but he gave me those goosebumps many times this past season.
You also don't go all in on a 31 year old WR and 30 year old CB if you're not a "win now" team... Which we aren't.... Marshall is different because he helps something we've been lacking.. We could get by and even work well with Skrine and McDougle or Milliner and someone else like Culliver, or Cro or someone like that.
Thank god you created a new thread for this. It's not like we have a thread that asks the very question you answered. You think your answer is more important than everyone else's I guess.
Other than Mo we don't have any big money contracts on the roster including at QB, depth doesn't cost much
Probably from a pasty media nerd who spends a lot of time sniveling to a bunch of football staffers that have no power except to be around when real football executives get on the phone and make a deal and that is only when this particular party media nerd is in dire financial straits and wants to get as much money as possible so they likely embellish details that could get them more money.
