I would argue he's not a 'cold weather' QB.. suffers something similar to what Manning goes through. If we're playing in a dome 75% of the time... maybe.. He's not a fit for us either way.
If they want our first and maybe a 2nd-4th rounder next year, I say do it. his age keeps me from giving an RG3 deal, I don't want to completely sell the farm, but we have the means to pull this off.
If he's available, do it. This would be the difference between playoff competitive and not. Too much of an opportunity to pass on.
Would be just like when SF went from Montana to Steve Young. Am I getting a little too ahead of myself?
Being a Jets fan it's pretty easy to deal picks lol I agree though, picks i'm all for. He's probably worth two first rounders for a shot at a title (2-3 years at best, but that's good). Playing outside in New York could be a problem, but he should be able to manage an offense and his own physical abilities.
and declining but would be the best QB we have ever had for a couple of seasons. I don't think this is realistic though.
I agree, trades of this magnitude are so rare. I also think Brees can give us 4 years. I do know how alot of folks were excited when we got Favre, but Brees can carry a team all on his own it feels like. Which unlike the Favre we got could not.
So all teams need a franchise QB, and the saints are trying to get rid of theirs, why would any team get rid of their franchise QB? That is a red flag to me, there is no way I would consider it, because if the saints want to get draft picks and younger, it means the jets should be getting younger also and using their draft picks to build this team. Not helping other teams, to get younger and better, with less expensive players. They can keep Bree's for what is going to cost to get him. I don't want a franchise QB for 2 years, I want one for 10 years.
