Not thrilled with Bilal but glad we wont be overpay for Spiller. Would've liked Vereen but a RB in the mid rounds of the draft is what is needed now. Cheap, smart way to go. Spend the $$ on the important players who you dont have to worry about getting injured before Week 1. People really wanna go for Spiller for 5 mil a year? PASSSSS
Again, the guy is the THIRD RB...he has to be ON the field to pass protect. LOL... But, if you don't believe me, go look it up...it's pretty well documented. Now, on C.J. Spiller...that, too, has been WELL documented that he is on record as wanting to come to the Jets as he had his career year(s) under Gailey up in Buffalo. Spiller WANTS to be here so I'm guessing we might get a "discount" but time will tell...
why was Idzik fired, anyway his first move in FA is to sign a castoff from Seattle his second move is to re-sign a JAG drafted and retained by previously failed and fired management
other then trading for mashall right off the bat,,this feels very idzik so far....although i think there trying to be agrresive.........i dont think anyone want to come here
Idzik got fired prematurely but I also get why people wanted a 1st year GM and 1st year HC. It all depends on what Powell got, again this is a deep RB class upcoming. It is important to draft your own RB these days and not have RBs with too much mileage on them.
What RB that is available is the difference between winning and losing? Outside of possibly Murray who we have zero interest in. Spiller and Vereen are nice backs but you really think they would give us that much of an upgrade? I dont want the FO to spend money on a RB. Especially one that hasnt had a good year in 3 years who's coming off an injury. Its funny how you think signing a backup RB is a negative. Life of a Jet fan I guess.
Deepest RB draft in recent memory means the Jets can get a young player to complement Ivory and Powell instead of having three veteran RBs in a league that veteran RBs don't have a lot of value due to durability
This is just a meaningless signing for a team that is desperate for CBs and a QB and that is the only thing they should be spending their time on. Everyone they have looked at has said no thanks so far and they arte wasting their time (and money) on backups.
I have no problem retaining your own talent, with talent being the operative word. Powell has replacement level talent compared to Spiller and Vereen. The idea behind FA is to get better, to improve the talent on the roster. If the team had its backs against the wall with zero cap maneuverability, I could understand. The team has 50 M in cap space.
