If true, this is great news. I think he's only 24 or 25, and is supposed to be a better pass blocker than run blocker.

I thought he had some bad numbers, but maybe he'll fit better in a pass happy offense.

There we go. Another step in rebuilding. If he can perform, it'll be good to have youth. If we can now get either a LT or RG, a FS, and a vet CB I'd be ecstatic.

And a QB but that goes without saying.

No..he's not very good. You are right. Seattle weren't exactly praised for having a great O-line...

It seems that injuries/conditioning are his issue. At 25 years old, having started for the NFC champs, and coming off his rookie deal as a former 1st rounder, this is the type of signing that I can appreciate (assuming they are paying appropriately).

Other way around. He stinks at pass blocking.

Reminds me too much of what Idzik did last year acquiring a Seattle O-Line player in Breno. Also...we've Idziked this free agency so far.

Seattle gave up 42 sacks, 5 less than us, and if they didn't have Russell Wilson it would have been more.

This team man lol, it's laughable

Assuming it's not for a ridiculous salary, I don't mind this move.

He won't be guaranteed a starting spot, and will be forced to fight it out with Winters/Aboushi/Dozier.etc. I'd be all for signing another vet guard too.

    Let the best men play.

I'm pretty sure that the report I read on him several weeks ago said that he was a better pass blocker than run blocker, but my memory may be faulty, or the article may have been mistaken.

Legal tampering started 3 days ago. You can do EVERYTHING except sign on the dotted line. Most Top Free Agents already have deals in place...so yea...we Idziked.

Really? I haven't done my homework on Carpenter but if it's true he is a good pass blocker, that is encouraging.

Russell Wilson has been running for his life the last 2 seasons and Unger and Okung are supposedly very good (?), so I figured Carpenter had to be subpar at best.

    No word on Boling??

No their O-Line sucks dick and Carpenter is a cause of that. Bad signing, but not a shocking one

Carpenter played well last year despite injuries to Okung and Unger. An instant upgrade.

Curious if he sticks at LG or will be next to his former teammate Giacomini. Carpenter was considered a reach on draft day but has really fought since to make himself a massive part of the attack Seattle put forth.

Guessing Dozier/Winters/Aboushi/draft pick(?) will duke it out for RG.
