Players like Harrison are easier to come by than a guy like Kris Jenkins. Jenkins was a better player. Jenkins was also a lot more expensive: 5 years, 35 M with 20 M guaranteed. That doesn't mean you don't lock a guy like Snacks up when you have the chance to a bargain price. Jets had top 5 run D last year, and Snacks had a big part in that. Run stuffers aren't that easy to come by. If they were, the Saints, Giants, Titans, and Browns last year wouldn't have been as bad as they were last year.
If you think Damon Harrison is easily replaceable, consider this: Bill Parcells once introduced his "Planet Theory." What is that? In short, there are only so many men on the planet big and skilled enough to play 2-gap defensive line techniques in the N.F.L. Jets currently have one (1) and his service is very affordable. (2). Learn to appreciate the value of your own asset before drooling over what's out there.
New York Jets We've tendered RFA Damon Harrison (2nd round) & Jaiquawn Jarrett (original). 7:32PM EDT straight from the horses mouth… lets see if anybody bites. if not, we win. if so, we get a 2nd or have a very good NT locked up for years, and we still win.
I don't think anyone will give up a 2nd If someone makes an off sheet I am sure we can match since we have a lot of cap room.
a bit of opportunity cost with a first. nobody wants a NT that bad, this is our only chance of maybe getting value back. once again IF he isn't kept. it could all come down to whose pick we get really. if TEN bit the bullet for instance that #34 is tantalizing...
I'm surprised they didn't tender a 1st on Harrison. The difference is like 1 million or something like that. But seeing those tenders, it's a pretty good indication both Harrison and Jarrett are back.
But the pats have no cap room If it was jax or oakland then I would be worried the pats? Lol we can match that deal No more poison pills
PFF would disagree with that Surprised they only tendered him with a 2nd. IMO I'd rather have Harrison than a 2nd round pick.
