The only way I see him taking that little is if it's $48 for 4 and ALL guaranteed. Even then it's a stretch.

The way I see it, with Revis and Marshall we become an instant super bowl contender. Yes, I said super bowl! It's a myth that you need a franchise QB to win the SB....as evidence, recall Trent Dilfer and the Ravens, Brad Johnson and the Bucs, Jeff Hostetler and the Giants, Doug Williams and the Skins, Jim McMahon and the Bears, just off the top of my head.

If Geno Smith (or Fitzpatrick perhaps?) can be at least serviceable, look at the rest of our roster if we add Revis:

    RB: Ivory, Powell
    WR: Marshall, Decker, Kerley
    TE: Amaro, Cumberland

    DL: Sons of Anarchy!
LB: Coples, Davis, Harris, FA/draft pick
CB: Revis, Pryor, A.Allen, [Milliner/M.Williams/McDougle/FA or draft pick]

So, basically, if we draft or sign a couple offensive linemen, a safety, and another OLB, we are all set!

But really, with the star power of our D-line and possibly an emerging Coples applying QB pressure and Revis shutting down half the field, our defense jumps to elite level again, and Brandon Marshall becomes a great security blanket for our QB, helping the passing game immensely.....why can't we contend immediately?

PLEASE WOODY AND MAC, GO GET REVIS AND COMPLETE THE TRANSFORMATION TO SERIOUS CONTENDER RIGHT NOW!!!! We're SO close, we can't stop one Revis short of a contender!!!

Deal needed to sign Revis is said to be $48 million over 3 years, $40 million guaranteed

Give him 3/51, 40 mil guaranteed and get it done. We should have never gotten rid of him Revis to begin with...

Did you actually READ my post? You would have laughed at anyone who said that Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, or Jim McMahon could win super bowls back in the day. Just like you are laughing at the thought of Geno Smith or Ryan Fitzpatrick winning a SB now.

    lol, c'mon man!

if we land Revis, we have the potential for a top 5 D again, and at least top 10. that much i'll give you.

but we don't even know who our starting QB will be, and our Oline and TE units need some serious work, as well as the rest of the secondary.
can't get it all done in one offseason.

Dilfer, Johnson, and McMahon all had the luxury of having three of the greatest defenses of all time to back them up when they won their super bowls. Let's not forget, McMahon also had Walter Payton as well.

If the Jets hadn't let him go the first time, they probably wouldn't have Sheldon (unless they took him at #9), so it all worked out either way.

If we're not realistically at least playoff contenders then what is the point?

But isn't it at least possible we could get done what I outlined in my post? I think Amaro and Cumberland are plenty good enough at TE, hardly a crucial position, especially when you have an elite group of WR's like we have now. And Pryor is still an elite prospect only entering year 2, plus Antonio Allen has played well at times and is still young himself.

If we can find a guard and RT for the o-line, and either Geno or someone like Fitzpatrick (rumored to be coming here) can at least be serviceable, looking at the rest of our roster with Revis, why can't we contend with that?

Bottom line .... it would give us realistic hope for next year and beyond. How often in our history have we been a serious contender? I mean, why add an older Marshall and re-sign veteran David Harris if you are still going to leave the team short at CB like Idzik did?

We could have absolutely fought for the 6th seed with Revis, an upgraded guard and intelligent draft selections.

    nice pic lol.

But yeah that's debatable.. Idk.. i just can't see what we have to offer the guy that the pats can't. And i still hate the fact that he wants that high price tag.

I wish there was a better option because that's how much I hate him as a person but our secondary is so bad that I'm willing to just accept his talents. Not at an insane price though, it's gotta be realistic but you're right. Thats why I dont see him ever actually resigning here, the Pats are infinitely a better option

we absolutely cannot leave CB short again, and I badly want Revis on the team..
one signing doesn't make us SB contenders just like that tho...

TE is a position of dire need imo, and hasn't received too much attention on this board.
Cumberland was literally rated the worst TE in football. he shouldn't even be rostered. Amaro's next run block will be his first.
I'm really hoping they can land Virgil Green.

on Oline, RT absolutely needs to be addressed, and yeah we can use a new G as well.
not sure if they'll get both done this offseason.

and then there is the QB position, and the rest of the secondary, as well as brand new coaching staff and O.
it will take some time for all of the parts to gel.
    not happening in one offseason.

if we can still be in playoff contention in Dec, that would be an amazing first step.
    start there...
