This smacks of last year when we ended up with nobody and a lot of leftover money..4-12 was the result of that fiasco.
For some reason all day I have had this picture in my head of Jerry McGuire yelling SHOW ME THE MONEY into a phone to while Bob Sugar signs all of his players
Yeah, I'm preparing myself for another lecture about rollover money that we won't spend as our secondary gets beat and o-line gets our QB smashed
maybe it's just me, but i had no interest in Jackson. feel he's an avg at best player who was going to get star money.....and that's exactly what he got. paying avg guys like pro bowlers in FA is not a sound move.
btw I've seen a lot more reports say "IF the Jets cut Percy Harvin" it seems there's a possibility he stays?
I mean shit, at this rate, we might HAVE to keep Harvin just to reach the amount of money we are required to spend.
if we miss out on a few more top tier guys, you might be right.. won't be the worst thing, but doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have 3 high priced WR's with no QB to get them the ball. especially with 2 of them being potentially volatile, having potentially massively conflicting egos, not getting their share of eats.. could put our new HC in a tough spot. so while not the worst thing, it would be far from ideal..
but if we draft Mariota, we would have a good QB on a rookie salary to work with. The receivers could work.
Yeah more and more I'm coming around to keeping him. Doubt it happens, but we need someone with actual talent who can also play special teams, an absolutely abysmal area for us that nobody's talking about. On that subject, the Spiller talk is shockingly silent so far...
i'd love to draft Mariota. prob wouldn't start him right away tho... but to your point, maybe a journeyman vet like Fitz or Moore could make it work with that many weapons too.
Call me impatient but I am getting frustrated watching all of the talent going off the board to other teams while we are apparently sitting on our hands. If I was GM Cro and Wisnewski would already be locked up filling two of our biggest needs. Not sure what the front office is thinking at QB but the may not have been impressed with the guys that have been signed.
Just sign 2 of these 3 for the OL: Bulaga, Boling, Iupati Overpay if you have to. I don't care at this point.
Boling and the Vikings have mutual interest and are meeting today so he's virtually gone. Iupati is basically finishing up a deal with the Raiders, still listening to the Jets and Bills but he's basically gone too and Bulaga is visiting the Jags
Pats are declining the option on Revis, which makes him a free agent tomorrow. Not that we didn't know that already, but now it's official.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 3m3 minutes ago Patriots not picking up $20 million option in Darrelle Revis' contract; now set to become free agent Tuesday. Nothing new, but now official
Keep in mind the NFL sent out a notice blasting everyone for releasing details of deals before FA opened. It is possible that deals have been struck that have not been leaked yet in order to comply with the memo.
