Fitzpatrick > Geno right now and I don't know if it's really arguable. Throw in the fact he's familiar with the offense, I think it's a no brainer that he would beat out Geno given a fair chance throughout the course of training camp.
Regarding the bolded word, you did misunderstand my post. I said there is no reason to think changing the OC WILL make a significant difference. There's a difference between could and will. In fairness you do go on to identify putative differences between Marty and Chan. But again I don't see how those differences WILL make a difference in Smith's overall performance. Quite simply I don't think Smith's problems have to do with lack of coaching or dfferences between Ryan and Marty. They have almost entirely to do with Smith's personal and performance difficulties and shortcomings.
So you think GeNO has the potential for a 95.1 season passer rating and the numbers Fitz posted under Chan's system previously? Don't think so
Did you actually watch Fitzpatrick play last year?? I guarantee you if Geno was the Texans QB, with those offensive weapons, they make the playoffs. Having watched every Texan game last year ( I live in Houston) he got benched for a player (Mallett) that had never taken a meaningful snap in 4 years.
I agree I think changing the oc hurts hm. 2 years in the same system he got worse. Now he has to learn another system. To this point he hasn't shown much aptitude for learning.
I watched plenty of Texans games (my fantasy season relied heavily upon Foster). I have a very VERY hard time agreeing with you that if Geno were the QB, they would have made the playoffs. And since we can't get past that, then I guess we won't agree that Fitzpatrick only got benched because Mallet is someone the Texans needed to get a look at and they were not going to make the playoffs.
No way.. Geno a pipe dream.. He's been awful to this point. Fitz isn't great, but like someone said earlier, if the jets do sign him and its a FAIR competition. Geno doesn't start
I can't believe we've come down to wanting Ryan Fitzpatrick playing QB. We're turning into one of those teams that has absolutely NO CHANCE from week 1 because their QB is a washed up, no good scrub QB.
Do some of you guys not watch the NFL? Fitz, Hoyer, Mallet all fucking suck. They wouldn't be available if they were actually starting QB's. We don't need to pay a back up big money. Let that be Geno's job and go get Mariota.
Turning into? You miss the last four years? We're gonna sign someone this week at QB. He will be shitty. I'm not psychic, I'm just a realist. There is no fix for QB this year. Period. FA is barren, and Mariota is the one even remote hope of a fix (one I don't buy AT ALL) in the draft. You can't invent a franchise QB out of thin air, so suck it up and fix the rest of the team. We're not a playoff team anyway this year.
Who says we are paying a backup big money? I can't imagine Fitz costing anymore than a few million at absolute most.
So why do we need three QB's making a lot of money? Geno and Fitzpatrick or whoever we'd possibly sign are not starting QB's in the NFL. We're going to pay two back ups and Mariota? Why?
This is so fucking annoying. I made this name when we all thought he was going to be good. I didn't feel the need to change it like some people did. Geno's a back up, and Fitz is as well. Why do we need two back up QB's?
I'm talking about Geno, Fitz and Mariota. We don't need some crappy free agent QB. Keep Geno as the back up and draft Mariota.
