Not really the problem as they will clearly not pick it up. Still, I assume they have until tomorrow at 4pm to rework his deal and make it a long-term extension.
I think they have to exercise the option today, probably by midnight. But, like you said, they are not going to do that.
Originally I said hell no. Then I said ok maybe if it's a deal that is not too expencive. Now I'm saying I'll be fine if we pay the man close to what he wants. Crazy how supply and demand works lol. The CB market went from plentiful to scarce real quick. It would be nice to take him from the Pats. Luckily he is the best CB in the game so Id be willing to spend best CB money on him, especially if we have to spend a lot due to cap requirements. Plus it looks like we have the potential to be a much better team next season with the acquisitions we've already made. Not to mention we still have free agency to get some key guys and the draft. Pretty exciting actually.
Whatever it takes to get him here. He's that important to this team. If he's the only FA we can afford, then so be it, but adding Revis at this point is a must! Getting Marshall and re-signing Harris shows the new regime is making a big push to win now, and Revis would help that cause immensely!
not a good sign. looks like they are freeing up cap room for Revis. http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/308077/report-pats-could-be-moving-on-from-browner
To be honest if the Pats cut ties with Browner because they want to resign Revis, especially at the number Browner is on that would be tough. Browner is a penalty machine though
He's still a very good CB, but he definitely draws penalties, he's also on the wrong side of 30 which a lot of people forget, he came into the NFL back in 05 but played in the CFL until 2011, when the Seahawks signed him. He's a confusing case. He's worth more than 4.8, but it could also be the team is trying to move on from him a year too early instead of a year too late like they prefer to do.
I'm all for getting Oline help, and think we can both sign Revis plus a quality Olineman, and a vet QB without issue. Suh ups the ante, but those 3 positions were the most critical to upgrade regardless.
On the field I like revis as much as the next person, but I don't know if signng him at all cost is the best move. I think they will so that should make allot of you happy, but the reasons are wrong.. I think johnson wants to distanc himself from the idzik tabacle and make it appear like, everything that went wrong in the past he had nothing to do with.. Now I hated idzik as much if not more than anyone, but I don't believe for a second he was the only reason we didn't resign revis when we should have.. I think the jets have to be careful and I think it might take a team crippling contract to get him back. Take 2 might justi be to pricey.
