Bears agreed to terms with OLB Pernell McPhee on a five-year, $40 million contract. The deal includes nearly $16 million in guarantees. McPhee played behind Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil last year, but still posted 7.5 sacks, 64 quarterback pressures and 24 quarterback hits while lining up everywhere from nose tackle to defensive end. He was PFF's No. 2 3-4 OLB, behind only Justin Houston. It's an excellent get for the Bears, who now have themselves a difference-maker for a defense that was ranked 30th in both 2013 and 2014. Man, McPhee was someone I really thought we were gonna go after. I'm not going to go full retard and pretend this is Idzik part 2 but it's getting annoying.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet now9 seconds ago Ex-#Browns QB Brian Hoyer plans to sign a multi-year deal with the #Texans, likely three years, I’m told. They plan to have Hoyer & Mallett
I'm starting to agree. I didnt think McPhee, but I do recall hearing we'd be "active in free agency". I am thinking the following; Jabaal Sheard OLB Clint Boling G Cromartie CB Chris Culliver CB Ryan Fitzpatrick QB (now that Texans signed Hoyer) Maybe even Rahim Moore FS CJ Spiller RB
Texans re-signed QB Ryan Mallett. Source: Mike Garafolo on Twitter Definitely means that Ryan Fitzpatrick is out. We should reunite him with Chan Gailey here.

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter 17m17 minutes ago Still a good chance QB Brian Hoyer winds up in Houston, but his agent still is negotiating with the Jets and NY will be given a chance here.
I hear you. I just saw on Gang Green Nation that the Jets were going hard after Iupati, and I've seen no news that they had any interest in Orlando Franklin, who is set to sign with the Chargers. I think this is a colossal mistake. Iupati is a bad pass blocker, yet is the most expensive OG on the market. I thought we were leaving "ground and pound" behind. If so, going after Iupati rather than Franklin is a dumbass move imo. In that same Gang Green Nation article http://www.ganggreennation.com/2015/3/9/8175315/new-york-jets-interesed-in-cb-chris-culliver I saw some info on Chris Culliver that I didn't like at all. I guess I have to hope that the Jets will sign him, because I don't want Revis, but this is what the article said about Culliver:
The Jets have shown no inclination to avoid off the field stupidity in their players. Luckily that doesn't translate to on the field stupidity (most of the time). I guess this is one area where Bowles will have to earn his paycheck.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...-oakland-raiders-agree-5-year-deal-worth-445m The Oakland Raiders and Center Rodney Hudson have agreed to a five-year, $44.5 million contract that will make him one of the NFL's highest-paid centers, a source confirmed to ESPN.com's Bill Williamson. Wonder if they turn elsewhere now and not go after Iupati
I'm disappointed that the Jets didn't appear to show any interest in Orlando Franklin and I haven't seen any indications of interest in Boling or Carpenter, but according to a Gang Green Nation article, they're going hard after Iupati, which makes no sense to me. He's pretty awful in pass protection. If we were sticking with a "ground and pound" offense, I could understand going after Iupati, but not with Gailey's spread offense. I'm not that high on Sheard, but he would be better than nothing. I'd rather have Acho, who knows Bowles system or Brooks Reed. I'd definitely like Culliver in spite of his off field issues, Fitzpatrick, Moore and Spiller. I think I'd rather have Cary Williams than Cro, but wouldn't be unhappy with Cro.

John McClain@McClain_on_NFL · 14m 14 minutes ago Jets, Atlanta, Chicago, Arizona and Oakland pursuing OLB Brooks Reed.
Brooks Reed would be a real nice signing, although McPhee would have been the real coups de grace for pass rushers available in free agency. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.
