We got Sheldon out of the deal, as long as Sheldon stays with the Jets and continues to improve - this transaction doesn't belong in this thread. Richardson is entering elite status as we know it.

Surprised no one has mentioned Vilma cept for me, we haven't had a good cover linebacker since he left.

I'm just getting some variety going with threads :D...Sorry to bring back bad memories!

I don't despise the Revis trade...That trade got us Shelden Richardson

which was dumb on their part. he cost them the win in their Tie vs carolina by missing a gimme and had a key miss in the 3rd Q of the final game of the season where they lost the division to Pittsburgh.

Yeah I don't follow him, it's just amazing that one of the centerpieces for such a shitty move by us is still chugging along in the league a decade palter.

It's like when I see Dwight Lowrey make a big hit on whatever team he's on and I'm like "WTF?!?"

Richardson takes a little bit of sting off but they coulda had sheldon with their original pick though, they didn't need to trade revis to get him. Imagine the 2 of them together. Instead we got to watch possibly the best player in franchise history make his way to a division rival and win the SB that's a big deal historically.

Players like Ihedigbo who go on to thrive after being productive in their Jets specials team run/minor productive secondary work drives me NUTS

Trading a first rounder for Doug Jolley and a second rounder used to pick a kicker.

That's why for the most part the draft is a crapshoot.

Remember how everyone was pissed that we took Shelden instead of Star Lotulelei...Hard to predict.

Bringing in a Dees and Does kind of guy named Rich Kotite as our head coach.

    Hiring Idzick as our GM.

Minor??? His acquisition made the franchise an instant circus. It filled the locker room with disharmony. It caused our starting QB (already fragile) to look over his shoulder even though he just signed an extension. When Tebow came in the game , a Pop Warner defense could prepare for what was to come next. The unrest caused by bringing him in contributed greatly to the downward spiral we were about to witness the next few years. Minor? Not really.

That's true, if we didn't get fair compensation back this would have been #1 easily above John Riggins, but Richardson is a great player - we got something back for Revis and if we win big with Richardson being our leader then well again it will all be worth it in the end. Imagine giving Revis all that cash, and not being able to repay Wilkerson or Sheldon a few years down the line. That could have happened and well we would be really screwed.

I miss Digs. Him and that awesome golf swing celebration when he got a sack. He's doing pretty well for himself. Jason Trusnik another key player we had.

    1. Firing Pete Carrol to hire Kotite
    2. Not taking Marino.
    2. Drafting Ghouslton. This could be a long list of draft picks from the late 80's and early 90's from Haight to Blair Thomas all the way up to drafting Sanchez.
    3. Extending Sanchez
    4. Tebow
    5. Justin McCairins trade always bothered me.
    6. Idziks failure to put together a competitive roster completely ignoring CBs and our OG problems last year was arguably the worst most offensive personnel decisions I have seen by a Jets GM outside of Hickey's drafting in the early 90's.
    7. Hiring Mangini

Sounds like you skipped over my OP...I'll just go with us extending Sanchez as the answer

the franchise was already a circus with Rex, Sanchez was already a bum/fragile psyched QB, the locker room was already fragmented. Acquiring a shit backup QB for a 4th round pick didn't do anything beyond what was already happening.

Nnamdi was trash the minute he left Oakland, one of the more overrated cornerbacks. Chasing him along with letting key players go, led to our demise.

I'd have to say it was the signing and starting of Rick Mirer. That '99 team was stacked and going to contend for a Super Bowl.
If Parcells had gone with Lucas, or signed someone competent, the Jets would have made the playoffs, and who knows what happens.

All the other moves may have made bad teams worse or good teams slightly better.

One could argue that the Mirer signing directly cost the Jets a Super Bowl.

The Eagles did that to Nnamdi. He would have done much better with Rex

Nnamdi was slow, and wasn't a team player in Philly. It was a complete waste of time to chase another super expensive CB when we had other pressing needs. Easily one of Tanny's dumbest decisions.
