Richardson goes to the midde with Wilkerson on the right and Coples on the left. In that scenario Richardson's job is to penetrate not to tie up blockers. I think that is how the Cards run their 3-4 dline which is why I asked.
No. arizona had dan williams who is a traditional NT...richardson is not a nt and he would not be a good one....out of the 3 wilkerson atleast has the weight to play nt but again your just wasting any of the 3 in that scenerio....also coples sheded his weight to the 270's so he is prob to small to play the 5 tech now
Man idk about that, I think that would be a waste of Sheldon's first step having to run into double teams all day and I don't think Coples would be nearly as effective at LDE as Rich is
So the Jets are going to take one of the best penetrating defensive linemen in the NFL and make it easy to double-team him? They're going to subject Richardson to the physical stress of getting hit from two sides at once on many plays? I can't think of a worse thing to do with him. NT isn't a position you can easily slide into. Joe Klecko aside there are very few people who can excel at the demands it makes as well as preserve a high degree of mobility and a high motor.
Let him snatch. If Ellis suddenly becomes an impact player, well that's the breaks. Nothing he has done in Rex's defense to date suggests that is likely.
If they put a 2nd round tender on him they want the pick not the player. Somebody will oblige them. Probably the Pats.
Seems like they are waiting till the last minute to tender snacks...tender snacks, like burnt ends or cocktail franks
Well I love Joe but I think Richardson is a better pure athlete, has a great motor and it just remains to be seen whether he can continue to improve his technique to take that next step. I just can't stand to watch Copies play out of position again. As for Snacks, if the price is right sign him longterm but that means you need to trade Copkes now to rebuild the LB corps with better fits as he won't be back next year.
Jets need to trade Coples, he was a bad fit from the start and for him not to play out of position means making a better player play out of position, it isn't worth it to make him fit
Right, however Richardson's technique is primarily using a swim move to get by his guy. You can't swim through constant double-teams. There's always somebody you didn't catch flat-footed with the move.
Richardson in the middle at the NT? God. Enough with your Madden experiment already. That does NOT work in real life. Jesus.
Agreed. I have no clue why he hasn't been tendered yet. Seems pretty straightforward. Clock is ticking? I want Douzable back also.
I personally don't see what's so great about snacks but admit I'm not an expert on NT's. I always go back to big Kris Jenkins as a bar. That guy was a beast. Snacks is nice against the run but I don't see him tossing centers out of the way like they're house flies. I think run stuffers like snacks a little easier to come by.
Deep inside I always thought if Kris Jenkins was healthy we would have made at least one Super Bowl on those big runs we had
