Tiger? Haha. Ali? Haha. Gretzky? Haha. And Willie Mays would argue with the Babe. And please stop insulting Jordan by mentioning Brady in the same post. Montana. Marino. Elway. Unitas. Fifth place is up for discussion. _
MJ also isn't a consensus GOAT in the NBA. if 4 out of 5 people believes MJ is the GOAT then there is 1 who believes bill russell is the GOAT. and many believe peak larry bird is almost as good as MJ. better shooter, better rebounder, and better playmaker than MJ. and bird wasn't a freak athlete like MJ, but he made up for his size. basically many believe bird had the 2nd greatest peak right behind MJ> And guess what? many boston fans think brady has passed larry bird and is now bill russell equal. equal to a greatest defensive player of all time in the NBA, a guy who won 11 rings in 13 seasons. just think about that. boston fans can easily put brady's name next to larry bird and bill russell. and think again. is saying larry bird or bill russell in a same sentence to MJ a blasphemy? i don't think so. yes, MJ has surpassed both of them. but russell still owns the ring count. and bird actually owned MJ in his peak. many still believe 86 celtics would beat 90's bulls with a superior ball movement and better bigs. and larry bird was ridiculous during that span.
That is truly a depressing thought. Almost as sad as realising we're fast approaching 50 years since we had a QB you'd possibly choose over TB*. *Not accounting for blind haters who'd probably make an argument for Geno as a better pick.
I am not a Young fan, failure in TB then was handed the keys to a dynasty and barely won one SB and the only reason he won was b/c of the JJ's divorce in Dallas.
they won 11 games a year after winning 16 games w/ a much tougher sched. do you know how big of a difference 5 wins is?
And guess what (i) nobody here gives a shit and (ii) Boston fans are a bunch of uneducated drunken chowderheads and you can shuffle your Brady/Bird/Russell/Celtics deck all you want, NO ONE outside of that little hamlet is putting any of them over Jordan. _
Are you on fucking crack? Lawrence Taylor dominated the league Jerry Rice dominated the league Marshall Faulk might have had the greatest season by any player in the history of sports in 1999. SB win #1, the defense clearly carried that team, sure Brady didn't fuck it up but he was essentially Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer in that SB. Throw in he needed some joke called the tuck rule and then the allegations of spying on the Rams walkthrough hanging over that win. SB Win #2 , Brady was the best player on the field SB Win #3, Brady was the best player on the field SB Win #4, it took a combination of a great defensive play and a colossal playcalling fuck up by the Seahawks or he loses. All in Brady yes Brady could be 6-0 but let's not act like he also isn't a few plays away from being Jim Kelly. 4 wins by a total of 12 points is far from domination. You want to know what a QB dominating the league looks like.... Take a look at Joe Montana in the back to back SB seasons ... his playoffs are what domination is. 19 TD's to 1 INT, avg 270 yards a game, ave QB rating of 138, 70% completion. That called domination... no QB will ever have consecutive postseasons like that. To put Brady in the same status with Jordan and Ali is ridiculous. Those guys are consensus greatest of the great. There are plenty of people who have opinions that matter that wouldn't even say Brady is the greatest QB of his generation.
Miano: Brady has dominated the NFL for a long time, he is every bit on the level of those other great players. hard to compare players from other sports but Brady has dominated this league for a long time. are you saying my opinion doesn't matter? b/c anyone who isn't biased against NE(or for Manning) would say Brady is far and away the best of his generation. the debate now is about where he ranks in the top 5- is he #1? Many feel he is and he has a great case whether he actual is or not.
He has never dominated the league, he has been a very good QB in the league. He never dominated in the way that a guy like LT did. To even think that Brady is even in the same stratosphere as a guy like Jordan is borderline lunacy. I think he's the greatest of this generation but there certainly are people who think Manning is. These people are looking at more than the wins. They are looking at the total package. I don't agree with them but it doesn't make them wrong. I still think Elway was a better QB than Brady despite his losses. I get that Hardcharger I mean Bones Jones has a hard one for all things Boston, so he's obviously biased
he has dominated at the most important position on the field. has he been as dominant a QB as LT was a pass rusher? I am not sure anyone has dominated their position the way LT does but that doesn't take away from his brilliant play at QB where he transformed a franchise from laughingstock to dynasty instantly. is he a Jordan? I think only Jordan and Gretzky are on the same level in modern times but Brady is as close as it gets. Those that think Manning is better value fantasy #s over actual play. I despise all things Boston sports but I can tip my cap when I see greatness.
it's easy to dominate when your team is far greater than other teams. LT - 2 rings rice - 3 rings they were so dominant, but again brady went to 6 rings. again, i'm hypothetically assuming - if brady gets 5 rings in a salary cap era - IMO that accomplishments alone is enough to be mentioned in a same sentence to any greatest athletes. by the way, I've never said Brady is better than MJ. MJ is the GOAT in all sports IMO. that's not gonna change anytime soon. but let's not act like he was a god. he couldn't beat celtics. and then he couldn't beat the pistons. and he won when his team was absolutely loaded with the greatest coach ever. MJ is greatest, but people make him sound like he walked on water. Nike, david stern, and ESPN media really made MJ's empire. If basketball was not a global sports and NBA wasn't popular, would we worship MJ like we do now? i don't think so. bill russell isn't as celebrated as MJ because he was born in a wrong era. that guy won 11 rings, but he was a black athlete in a white media and just never got enough props he deserves. again, if brady wins ring #5 or even #6, i'm going to put Brady as the greatest football player ever, and that title will be enough to put him on the greatest athlete lists. right now 4 isn't enough. back in 80's and 90's Joe montana was mentioned in the same sentence as MJ. but while MJ's empires grew and grew, Joe Montana's empire didn't. NBA markets people better than anybody, and NBA players have advantages because of the shoes, and etc. If Joe Montana won 6 rings instead of 4, wouldn't Joe montana be mentioned in a same sentence as MJ? i think so.
Dominated?!? He's NEVER dominated. He's been a very good QB but he's never dominated the league over any span of time. He's only been the best QB in the league twice. That's not dominating. I was wondering who this troll was, thanks for clearing that up. Michael Jordan? LOL. _
ask any GM who would they rather have - LT or top 5 QB. and brady dominated the league - count his rings, mvps, and stats. 2007, brady torches the NFL. 16-0 season. first to throw 50tds. 2010, brady was the first unanimous MVP. and brady has 78% winning percentage. 12 game win season is expected. 13 wins 14 wins? nobody is surprised. when you are consistently great people just take it for granted. ask yourself this. would take prime JJ Watt for 10 years of prime peyton manning for 10 years? JJ Watt is as dominant as LT has ever been right now. would you take JJ Watt over current aaron rodgers? how about andrew luck? QBs are the most important players. without QB you can't win in this league. Give me Andrew luck to start a franchise over 2 JJ Watts. i'll take Peyton Manning over Reggie white and LT. easily.
Lol, kids say the funniest things. His teams dominated but there was this other guy who was physically superior and much more dominant than Russell at the exact same position. Oh, he was black too. _
so if brady wins 1 more regular season mvp, can you call that a dominance? magic johnson won 3mvps. and this year, real mvp is tom brady. without tom brady, pats would've won 4-5 games max with young rookie. regular season mvps in the NFL and NBA are 2 completely different thing. NBA is 5 on 5 game. football involves alot more human being.
Continuing to say Brady dominated the league and was the GOAT isn't going to make it true. Consistently great QB. Not the GOAT. Never dominant. Nearly every year of his career save 2 there were better more dominant QBs in a season. _
