Not true. Just last year he was talking shit about Cutler both in the locker room and on his radio show. He said if he were Bears management he would have buyer's remorse as well. Don't think he won't lay into Geno via the media if Geno sucks. He's not the psycho people make him out to be but he definitely isn't an angel.
Brandon Marshall is definitely not a person you acquire if you are thinking about putting a rookie QB on the field. I'm thinking somebody like Matt Moore or Brian Hoyer looks more likely based on the trade for Marshall. If Geno can't beat them out then he's definitively answered the questions about moving on and the Jets draft a QB next year and part ways with Marshall. In a rational world that is. Cutler is a no now due to his relationship with Marshall. Mariota is very likely a no. The thing to realize about Marshall is that he has had interpersonal conflicts, particularly with his QB's, everywhere he has been. That will not stop unless the Jets QB next year wins a lot and doesn't make a lot of mistakes. No rookie fits the bill.
Brandon Marshall is the perfect receiver to help a young QB develop. He doesn't have to be open to go get the ball, has a wide catch radius, and will fight for contested balls. That is a young QB's best friend. Plus he will be a good example of how to be a professional and play hard every snap. He takes pride in his craft, and he wants to win.
I totally agree Geno will have more success throwing the ball to Marshall than to Salas. I hope so! My locker room comment about Marshall going after his QB happened last season, not 3-4 years ago.
Wow, that's actually one hell of a tackle.. Has the concentration of a WR going after a juggled ball.
Marshall has borderline personality disorder. My ex-wife had that. I've spent a lot of time on forums talking to other people who have people with this disorder in their lives. 1. It doesn't just go away. At best it can be managed. The person is always going to have days where they act like some spoiled asshole. You have to be able to deal with that. 2. No one can deal with that forever. It wears on you after a while. The bears probably got tired of dealing with it every day. 3. If he doesn't like it in NY he will be impossible to work with and won't make it through the season. I'm very concerned about the Bears giving away that level of talent for a 4th round pick.
Frankly, SOMEBODY had to be trying to screw Geno's head off last season. So having a guy who will hold QB accountable is not such a bad idea
The reason for Bears trading is pretty simple actually. Cutler doesn't care about winning, Marshall cares a lot and has no problem telling his QBS that he is an asshole. One has low $$, another has a huge contract. One of them has to go... Guess which one will it be. And it's 5th, not 4th.
How would you know that? Maybe his "bad" year was the fluke. The guy threw 27 tds and 2 ints just two years ago and is still young and growing. And you say he only had one good year as though he's been in the league since 2000. Odell Beckham has only had 1 good year too. The truth is Foles is probably somewhere in the middle of his amazing year in 2013 and so-so year in 2014. Still, he played better than any QB last year than the Jets have had since 2009.
Because I've lived in the Philly region since 2006 and I've had to follow the Eagles as a result. There's just been very little to impress me.
In his last two season, he has thrown for 40 TD, 12 INT, and has a rating of 100. What impress you then? Lol
Does it bother anyone that he keeps getting traded, and each time, he is traded for less and less? It's like teams can't wait to get rid of him.
If Cutler wasn't terrible the Bears wouldn't be trying to clean house and Marshall would have never been traded.
If someone sells you a brand new Ferrari for $5K you have to know there is something seriously wrong with it. Brandon Marshall is a tall physical and talented receiver. We get that for a 5th round pick? Too good to be true. Let's just have a backup plan.
What we need now is a bonfide burner to pair with our two bigs on the outside. Someone in the 4.4/4.5 speed range. If we can get one in the draft who has good hands, we'll be set since for all his faults, Geno does throw a pretty decent deep ball. When he has the time that is...
Thanks. I had missed that. Locker has been less than stellar, however, and I believe has had some injury issues, hasn't he? I'm not sure the Jets would see him as any better than Geno.
