Atlantic 10 Tournament starts Wednesday March 11th @ the Barclays in Brooklyn. It's anyone's tournament as the top half is a log jam.

As it is, it looks like they might put 4 teams in the tournament. While Dayton and Davidson are currently leading the pack, Davidson appears to be the hotter team of the two at present. Dayton reminds me of a slightly less athletic St John's: undersized (6'6" ish) and undermanned (essentially a 6-man rotation). While Rhode Island got smoked by Dayton the other evening and VCU seems to be slipping at the wrong time, those two should make the cut. That said, Davidson *followed by VCU* the pick here.

    As for 'Cuse:
Penalties and measures prescribed by the panel are below:
    • Five years of probation from March 6, 2015 through March 5, 2020.
    • Vacation of all wins in which ineligible men’s basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12 and ineligible football students played in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. The public decision contains additional details.
    • Fine of $500 per contest played by ineligible students.
    • The school must return to the NCAA all funds it has received to date through the former Big East Conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
    • Suspension of the head basketball coach from the first nine conference games of 2015-16.
    • Reduction of men’s basketball scholarships by three for the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. If the school has already executed scholarship offers for the 2015-16 year, the school may begin the four-year penalty with the 2016-17 year.
    • Reduction in the number of permissible off-campus recruiters from four to two during June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2017.
    • The panel also accepted the school’s self-imposed postseason ban for the 2014-15 season, but noted that self-imposition of penalties after the conclusion of infractions hearings does not influence the outcome.
    • Additional self-imposed penalties can be found in the public decision.

the loss of 3 scholarships a year is a tough one but at least you didn't get banned from postseason.

will this move Boeheim to retire? chances are it will not be until post-Boeheim that they can truly recover from this.

my initial reaction is that it's pretty harsh but the NCAA in recent years has been harder on private schools, so it's no surprise

They just play favorites, sadly basketball is 2nd fiddle to football so SEC and Big 10 teams can essentially write their own rules but the basketball teams pay the price. Look at the garbage at Ped St. They went from should have gotten the death penalty to having their punishment wiped clean less than halfway in.

Gonzaga hasn't PLAYED A GAME against a tourney-bound team in 100 days, and you are screaming for them to be a 1-seed.

Again, I just feel like the UNC-Duke games have SO MUCH LESS juice this year than they normally do.

I am confused, where have I been screaming for them to get a 1 seed?

Last one I agree, this one feels a little closer to normal.

Countless posts in this thread when you praised them as one of the best teams in the nation?

Really? Simply for the revenge factor? Or is there some kind of ACC seeding at stake?

They are worthy of being in the discussion for a 1 seed, nowhere have I said they have to have one. Prior to losing last week they deserved one, now they deserve a 2.

actually seeding for the ACC Tourney cannot change but it's huge for Carolina as far as NCAA seeding. I think it could be the difference btw a 5/6 or a 3/4.

How can they deserve a 2-Seed when one of their top 3 wins is against, St. Johns, a team that doesn't deserve to be there?
