Runs very similar to one I'm 'old' enough to remember. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14005/demarco-murray 392 carries, no missed time. He's a beast. Who will be throwing Harvin the football? yea, I would prefer to see my team run the football with a horse like Murray.
We resigned the best linebacker in the market. $55 million in cap space -$9 million for B.Marshall -$7.5 million for D. Harris +$9 million cutting Percy Harvin Still have $47.5 million in cap space
Marshall is less than $9 mil. Bears pay the prorated bonus portion of his salary. I think it's closer to $7.5 mil. So $15 mil total for Marshall and Harris brings it down to $40 mil... if we cut Harvin its back up to $50 mil.
Not bad considering everything. We still have plenty of cap room to sign Mo and other free agents. Getting Marshall was a steal.
It absolutely was. If he hit free agency, there would have likely been teams lining up to sign him and could have made the price tag rise. We now signed him for a 5th round pick and by cutting Harvin, we level out the move. Much better position with Marshall than if we resigned Harvin for $10 million.
Someone actually compared Murray to Curtis Martin after Murray FINALLY stayed healthy for a complete season? Curtis missed one game his entire Jet tenure until his career-ending injury.
So ~ $50 mil minus ~ $5 mil for the draft class and we've got $45 to spend. If we chuck $15 at Darrelle and resign Wilk for $12 we've got $18 left and needs still at guard, pass rusher, safety and backup running back. Obviously we don't want to spend all the way up to the cap either, so we might have to bargain bin a little bit. How much space could we clear by cutting Pace and Babin?
Signing Revis for 15 million would be dumb. Sign a good corner (Kareem Jackson), and a possible value corner (Cromartie).
