whats his contract situation? i have always thought marshall was a top notch game breaker type even when he was with the shit bag dolphins. great signing and depending on his contract situation it may be an absolute no brainer.
Maybe so but Harvin has 6 total offensive (didn't look at special teams) TD's in the last 3 seasons. Marshall scored 8 in 13 games last year and 31 in the last 3 seasons. So there's that.
? No, he's one of those...good luck trying to take me down guys, while he bulldozes for 5 extra yards
All that means is the Jets need an efficient QB who can read a field and distribute the ball safely and effectively. Harvin is a nice piece, but hardly a cornerstone player.
Unless Tennessee is taking Mariota, he'll be there. Even if he there, I hope the Jets trade out of this spot and recoup the picks they lost in the Marshall and Harvin trades.
yea, no. Harvin has gotten into the end zone 21 times in 6 years. Marshall has gotten into the end zone 65 times in 10 years. So unless the " homerun" is worth more points, your point is moot
Pretty hard to criticize this move. Much better receiver than Harvin and more reliable. Plus less of a cap hit.
You got that right...and something tells me that Cobb isn't leaving Green Bay. But that's just me... Marshall is, literally, a top 5 WR (when he's on), for a 5th round pick (just heard confirmed on ESPN). Fantastic trade by Macc!
I like having a big outside threat over Harvin. Big end zone target that we needed plus he's become quite the leader in Chicago. Good move for us.
I normally wouldn't agree with a move for a 31 year old big name, but a 5th rounder is nothing and it actually frees money off the cap since if makes harvin expendable. I figure he's got 2 or 3 good years left, for what we gave up I love this move.
Only costs a 5th round pick according to this. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12432188/chicago-bears-trade-brandon-marshall-new-york-jets Reminds me of the Santonio Holmes deal except I think Marshall is well passed his off the field problems.
Bye Bye Harvin. I hardly knew ye. 5th for Marshall? I just hope he stays productive for 3 years down the road. [That's the average shelf life for any draft pick. If Marshall produces at high level for 3 years, then it's a 5th round pick VERY WELL spent.]
So happy right now, one of my closest friends is a Bears fan and he is so pissed right now! Loving this off season.
