Up to you. Don't attack my opinions as baseless because they don't line up with your draft guides and blogs you've read. _
You are right, all I saw was your bitter response which somebody else quoted. But as far as I can tell, you are the one who brought his beliefs into this "football fan" forum. So you mock him for his beliefs yet refuse to offer up your own for ridicule.
Thank you! He doesn't realize that there are a LOT of Christians in the world, and probably a lot of Christians on this board, so he is not just attacking me when he trashes my religion. But just so you know, everything I said to him in those PM's was the most respectful, kind, and loving that I could possibly be, he is just plain lying when he said that "some of it was pretty bad". Or maybe what he means by that is that some of it was religious, since he hates religion so much. He has had some tough and tragic events in his life, which really moved me and made me feel nothing but love and sympathy for him, and I reflected that in the loving and respectful messages I sent him. After my last message, I thought he might have liked it and maybe it made him reflect on some things because instead of a quick reply attacking me, as he always had done in the past, he didn't reply, and so I didn't send him another PM since. So I am frankly shocked that he is back to his old ways of attacking me for no reason on this board. From his last message, it sounds like he might be ready to stop that and get back to football, but we'll see.....fingers crossed.
...and don't attack my opinions on what the Jets should do in the draft just because I cite the experts and scouts from draft publications. I don't watch all that much college football, so I don't feel qualified to give my own opinions on the players (they wouldn't be worth much would they?), so I use what the experts say, and then tailor my ideas on what the Jets should do based on that (and of course on what other people say on this board and elsewhere too). What's wrong with that? Why do you get so angry when I quote draft magazines? What's so terrible about that? I don't go by everything they say verbatim, btw, but I use it as a guide, that's all...
I agree, if they think there's a good chance that he will become a franchise QB. I've seen mixed reviews on Mariota, so that's why I'm open to trading with the Eagles if they offer us a blockbuster package. The success rate of 1st round QBs, as everyone knows, is extremely low (something like 20% historically), so unless you're talking about a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck type prospect, the ones that get taken #1 overall, you are rolling the dice ..... do you agree?
I can't give Chip the 6th pick. Fuck Chip and the horse he rode in on. If I can't get MM, or I don't want him, I still need that pick. I need a Blue Chip player. Top players make the difference. If I don't want MM, and he's there, I might consider the Rams at 10. There's excellent OLB's that can get to the QB, and that's want I want if not MM.
I didn't bring up religion in the first instance. This was a conversation that started in the BS forum and was dragged here. You can't ridicule my beliefs because I don't bring them up here. _
Thank you for your support, but I would like to think that he's a nicer person in real life than he comes across on here sometimes. Plus, he mentioned to me that he has undergone an extremely tragic event in his life, and I actually felt sympathy and love for him after that, since I know what it's like to go through rough times in life. So while I'm not trying to justify some of the things he's written, I can understand at least where those comments are coming from now. We're all human after all, and we all go through painful and trying times in our lives. But thanks again, I do appreciate it.
...but they were dragged here BY YOU. You can't deny that, because it's all here and that's what these other posters are referring to.
As I suspected. As I suspected. So they aren't REALLY your ideas, they are ideas fed to you by someone else, and you base your ideas off of others ideas. So if those ideas are good, you're ideas will be good? But if those ideas are crap, you know what your ideas will be, right? _
Well, yeah, basically I guess that is pretty much accurate lol. .... what I am doing, then, is using the knowledge about the prospects that I gather from draft magazines, online sites (like ESPN, NFL.com, etc), TV shows like NFL Live, Jets fans here and elsewhere, etc, and then basing my opinions off of my analysis of all of those other sources....so I guess you are right in saying that my opinions are not really original in that sense, although I am taking bits and pieces from each source a la carte and then putting them together in a unique way, or my take on all of those opinions I guess you could say. Kind of like how rap artists sample the tunes of rock bands sometimes and put them, creatively, into their own songs. Original, but all of the ingredients that go into their songs are not original. That's exactly what I do here when I analyze prospects. But more important, I think, is our analysis and discussion of what the Jets should do based on the consensus opinions of the experts and other fans on the prospects. With free agency it's a lot easier, of course, because we all presumably follow the NFL closely and so we have better personal opinions on current NFL players because we've seen more of their games. (in general at least). Plus the fact that they are against NFL competition, which is a much higher level of play than college.
Actually no, but the discussion I was a part of on religion occurred in the "BS forum" (a terrible title for that forum btw, as if all non-sports topics are BS lol!) But you brought it here and used it to attack me (and other posters who are Christian and happened to read your posts). But whatever, you believe what you want and I'll believe what I want......now can we just drop this whole thing already?
I'm Catholic actually (which of course is Christian), and ironically Catholics are usually the most private about their faith of all Christians. That's changing a little bit with the "New Evangelization" movement. Of course a basic part of Christianity has always been spreading the Good News. It should be done in a respectful, non-obtrusive way, of course, but if we have this great treasure that enhances our lives, why would we not want to share it with others out of love and concern for our neighbors? ....anyway, as you yourself said this is not the place for this discussion. If you want to talk religion you can always PM me or bring it up in that other forum, but why are you ignoring my Jets posts and continuing to bring up religion here?
stop...#1 you are airing out a private message he sent you citing a tragic event. details or no details you are not respecting his privacy. second, you are the one on a religious crusade, you keep bringing it up....this isn't christlovesthejets.com .... You are religious? That is great God bless you. But stop hijacking this thread by flooding it with your religion. It's inappropriate and is getting annoying. JStokes can be a dick sometimes, but this one isn't on him. At all... So can we please give it a rest.
