Chip clearly wants mariota more than anything... make him overpay for it. The ball is in our court, because at any given "i can't do that" we can hang up and draft whoever we planned on drafting to begin with.
Sure and they've now traded an elite rb and will trot out a rookie qb in this scenario. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love how a few months ago it was: "OMFG can't believe we won this meaningless game. Now we have no shot at Mariota." Now for some of the same folks it's: "Hell yea I would trade the 6th to the Eagles if Mariota is there." Knee-jerk reactions... you'd think at some point, people would learn.
That's just ridiculous ... please stop replying to my posts with your empty opinions based on nothing but what you invent inside your head....if you can't support your opinions with REAL EVIDENCE from credible sources, then they're pretty much worthless. And they certainly carry no weight in any kind of serious debate. Talking about Sanchez, You say "He wasn't 1/10th the prospect of Mariota coming out." but that's absolutely untrue. If anything, Sanchez was the better prospect coming out, but I would say they are about equal (again, based on actual analysis and scouting reports, not just fan opinions). Stafford was the elite prospect that year and went #1 overall, and Sanchez was a notch or two behind as the clear cut #2. I actually thought it was a great move at the time for us to trade up for him, especially since we gave up essentially nothing in ripping off the Browns. But my point is that it's a crapshoot whether guys like Sanchez or Mariota will pan out, so better to not risk such a high draft pick on them especially if someone is offering you a bundle to trade down. I'm seriously sick and tired of your nasty replies and insults .... please stop and just ignore my posts from now on if you think they're "bullshit".
loll.. true. I wanted Mariota but starting having 2nd thoughts once we got Gailey. As a WVU fan i know Geno can strive in that spread and with a little trust from the coaching staff to let him do his own thing, i think he'll be fine. The fact that if we make the trade we can't get Amari Cooper or K.White , thats what pisses me off : /
First round QBs from the last 5 years: 2014 Blake Bortles Johnny Manziel Teddy Bridgewater 2013 EJ Manuel 2012 Andrew Luck RGIII Ryan Tannehill Brandon Weeden 2011 Cam Newton Jake Locker Blaine Gabbert Christian Ponder 2010 Sam Bradford Tim Tebow 2009 Matt Stafford Mark Sanchez Josh Freeman http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?type=position The vast majority of those guys ended up being busts. Marcus Mariota is the kind of prospect that most of those busts were coming out. He's not in the Andrew Luck class, so there's about a 20% chance of him panning out. Let the Eagles roll the dice and let's stockpile draft picks instead! (btw, go back another 10 years and the percentages are about the same.)
What you are missing is - Geno needs to be at WVU (1) against BIG 12 competition (2) to excel. Ain't happening in NFL.
If he likes the QB's he has he could hold up Chipper to the tune of a major roster fill. But, yeah, it's about players. Blue Chippers. A few Blue Chippers go a long way. So point taken
I just don't believe in Foles. What if we get foles and he has a sanchez-like run to the playoffs (carried by good running and tough defense) but still has turnover issues. He's in the last year of his contract. What do we do then after that season is over? when he's clearly not the guy long-term? B/c at that point you have to either let him walk or pay him as our franchise QB, at least for the next 5 years.
I guess my biggest question about the article is why is Philly targeting the six pick to make this trade? If they want him that bad, with the threat of the Rams and other MM lovers, why would they not move to the earliest possible position with the team that wants to do a trade? No suitors with the Redskins, Titants, and Raiders?
Let him walk. Who cares? He's icing on the cake in any potential deal it seems. If he sucks, we are in no worse position than we would have been anyway. And we'll have a bunch of picks on top of it.
Maybe the price to move up into the top 5 is much higher than when you drop to #6, based on the widely used NFL trade value charts?
Eagles should just be patient and take Mariota with their 20th pick in the 2nd round....about where Mariota belongs. And as far as another team jumping ahead of us to take him? Blessing in disguise....just means more real top 6 talent is still on the board.
