if we get Glennon first, no one wanting Mariota would trade with us because they know we wouldn't be taking him
Remember when Mark Sanchez was the hot QB commodity in the draft, and the "franchise QB" we just had to trade up for? "Take a look at the cover of the Sporting News' 2009 NFL draft preview magazine, featuring Georgia's Matthew Stafford and USC's Mark Sanchez." http://www.ocregister.com/usc/usc-471244-href-preview.html There's no guarantee that Mariota will be any better than Sanchez. If the Eagles are willing to bet the farm on him, we should take advantage of the package of picks we would get and rebuild the entire roster, plus have extra first round picks in the future that we could use if a higher rated QB is available.
I disagree with some of those trade ideas but i agree that foles doesnt get enough credit. His 2013 season was just incredible. He dropped off a bit last year but still had that team at 6-2 when he got hurt. I think Foles can become a franchise quarterback.
Foles, 2015 1 and 2 and 2016 1 and 2. if the Eagles go for that, you HAVE to make the trade. I look at it like this....Foles at this point is every bit as good as a prospect as Mariota. We've seen Foles throw 28 TDs in the NFL. we haven't even seen Mariota take a snap under center. Lets call them a wash. so we swap even prospects and get FOUR draft picks (great picks at that)
Agree but how is it considered a "wash"? Lol You just said: Foles has thrown 28 TD at the pro level and Mariota has never taken a snap. How exactly is this a wash? And how is Foles every bit a prospect as Mariota if Mariota has never played an NFL snap?
Stop with this bullshit and stop reading draft preview magazines. Develop your own view of the player. Mariota has been a superior player to Sanchez FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. And I like Sanchez. He wasn't 1/10th the prospect of Mariota coming out. _
Im saying a wash for arguments sake, at worst so the Mariota lovers don't attack me. so even worst case, with those two negating eachother, we get 4 additional picks. But yes, I AGREE THAT fOLES IS THE BETTER "PROSPECT"
It's a bullshit red herring. Kyle Orton threw 80 TD passes before Andrew Luck had ever taken a snap in the NFL. Would the Colts have traded that pick for Orton? _
To me it's all about Tennessee. What does Whisenhunt wanna do. That's where Chip's gotta go. If he can't would Washington trade within the division. Otherwise fuck Chipper. Take MM. Sign a QB too. Fuck Geno while we're at it
No, I'm not saying it for comparison reasons. I was asking how someone could call it a wash if one has played at the pro level and the other hasn't.
Talk about bullshit....you argued that we shouldn't compare Mariota to Sanchez but youre comparing Luck to Orton? Luck was 1000 times the prospect that Mariota is.....Mariota is much closer to Sanchez than he is to Luck
There is too many great options at 6 to trade down to 20. No chance I trade unless it is comparable or better than the trade the skins made to move up a few spots.
Im not saying that. Im comparing these guys at the time that they were prospects. Luck was by everyone's account, a " cant miss". And he didn't miss. Mariota is nowhere near a cant miss of course because he has never done what he will be asked to do in the NFL. never. so that knocks him down several rungs right off the bat. Luck did for his entire college career, exactly what he would be asked to do on Sunday.
They really need to blow our socks off with an offer. I'm talking three firsts, and a couple mid round picks after that. Whether you like Mariota or not, it should pretty much be agreed upon by the franchise that we need to at least try to get our guy with a first round pick. The chances of mid round quarterbacks working out is too low to pass on a guy with great intangibles and great physical attributes like Mariota. That being said, he's really no sure fire pick, but the Andrew Luck's of the world are really few and far between, and I really don't think we will be bad enough to be picking this high again. Make the Eagles mortgage their future if they want us to pass on a potential franchise quarterback AND drop 14 huge value spots in a draft stacked at the top at positions of needs for us.
Remember the Eagles are a 10 win team last 2 years. Their 1st round picks are in the 20s and 2nd rounders are in the 50s. Much less valuable than Redskin picks for all those comparing to the RG3 deal
