You have no clue what you're talking about. I suggest you actually read up on what happened and then get back to me. But I get it, since it's UNC, it's perfectly fine that they did it. If it happened at a BE school, we'd never hear the end of it. http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-ba...d-ncaa-north-carolina-not-responsible-lawsuit The NCAA has stated it is not responsible for the academic fraud allegations brought against the University of North Carolina, according to CBS. Former North Carolina women's basketball player Rashanda McCants and former football player Devon Ramsay sued the university and the NCAA in January claiming the school offered its athletes fake classes. The complaint was filed in North Carolina state court and accused the NCAA of negligence. The report claims the NCAA knew of other instances of academic fraud for the past century and refused to monitor those situations.
Again, how can someone possibly argue against such a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out argument? I mean, when you consider the hours of research, statistical analysis, and fact-digging that was required to present this argument, one wonders how nyjunc has time to support his family?
you feeling ok? other than the misleading photo of Roy where is the men's team discussed in that article?
it's to the point where all you need is "ACC" next to the team name and you know they are probably cheating in some way
it's the truth, how else can SJU beat absolutely no one but a couple of mediocre BE teams and be a lock for the tourney? let's not pretend like you post anything well thought out ever, you post computer #s. computer #s that had KU as the #1 team most of this season ahead of UK who is undefeated and beat KU by 40.
it's to the point where all you need is a post from "Browning Nagle" to know it will be mindless nonsense.
You feeling ok? I posted an article discussing the lawsuits against UNC for widespread rampant cheating in academics for the athletes. What is your position? That all the other athletics programs were cheating EXCEPT for the men's basketball team? But maybe you want more articles? http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/25/us/unc-academic-fraud/index.html http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf...igibility-for-student-athletes-162431744.html
you may want to read these articles. the last article you posted was the only one to mention anything related to men's basketball and did so w/ a Salutatorian in Justin Knox who had a near 4.0 at 'Bama before he transferred to UNC. get the facts, don't just post meaningless links. Read the Wainstein report, watch his PC.
The facts are readily available in those "meaningless links" you refer to. Maybe you should try reading them. When you pay for a report, you can have it say what you want it to say. There's a report that Joe Paterno had nothing to do with the Ped State scandal. Hint: it's not from an unbiased source. Here's what Wikipedia has to say, and that article is being edited by plenty of UNC homers like yourself to paint UNC in the best possible light: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unive...na_at_Chapel_Hill_academics-athletics_scandal
One has to be a special kind of naive to acknowledge widespread academic cheating among athletes at a school but surprisingly not for the flagship program.... especially when a player himself in the flagship program publicly admits benefitting from it. It would be like acknowledging the Patriots organization took steroids for years, with Tom Brady saying he did. But believing it was not to win football games but to look nice for the ladies.
ohhh now using Wikipedia, I guess the 4th times a charm? the facts show the men's basketball program did nothing wrong. Read the Wainstein report rather than posting this nonsense. They paid to get all the facts, they could have tried to sweep it under the rug like so many other schools. the report was very damaging for the athletic program and the University BUT it was not damaging for the basketball program.
except for the littler fact that McCants was deemed as not credible by the report. there was no evidence to support his story. isn't it amazing that through all the years of the supposed cheating only 1 player came forward to say what McCants said and a million came forward to dispute what McCants said. You guys can keep spouting off stuff you know nothing about or you can actually do some research.
junc, I suggest you go do some research and look at the facts before spouting off w/your usual nonsense. You would be screaming bloody murder if this happened at Duke.
like I am w/ the K hiding the rape allegations stuff? you have no idea what you are talking about here, do some research please.
From USA Today: http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/03/kansas-big-12-streak-kentucky-undefeated-better Kentucky's perfect season still isn't as impressive as Kansas' First things first: Kentucky (30-0, No. 1 ranking) has had a much better season than Kansas (24-6, No. 10 ranking). Heck, Kentucky has had a much better regular season than any team of the 21st century. Theirs was a season that included a 14-point win over North Carolina, eight-point win over Louisville and, oh yes, a 32-point blowout of the aforementioned Kansas Jayhawks. So how could Kansas’s regular season possibly be more impressive than Kentucky’s? You’re not thinking big picture. 1. KU has triple the longest current division-winning streak in college basketball and the longest in all of sports. With that thrilling overtime win over West Virginia on Tuesday night, Kansas clinched the outright Big 12 regular season title. It’s the 11th-straight year Kansas has won its conference, including outright titles a whopping seven times and in six of the past seven years. This year’s title, which was in doubt as recently as five days ago, came in what was supposed to be a down year in Lawrence, after the team lost two of its biggest stars — guys who only went No. 1 and No. 3 in last year’s NBA draft. Eleven straight. It’s sort of unfathomable. The last time Kansas didn’t win the Big 12, the conference still had 12 teams (it has 10 now). Bob Knight was still coaching. George W. Bush was in his first term. And John Wall was still in middle school. No other team in college basketball has a current streak longer than three (though Harvard and Davidson could make it four with titles this year), which means that no team could tie Kansas’s mark until 2022, at the earliest. No other team in all of sports has a title-streak longer than six and that honor belongs to the New England Patriots, who play in a division with only three other opponents. (Two-and-a-half if you consider the New York Jets.) Oh, and in those 11 years, Kentucky has won the vastly-inferior SEC just four times. 2. KU’s is also the second-longest streak in history. The longest streak in NCAA history is UCLA’s 13-straight Pac 8 titles from 1967-79. Kansas’s 11 ties Gonzaga’s streak from 2001-11 at No. 2 and breaks a tie they held with UNLV (1983-92) and Connecticut (1951-60). But while those the numbers are similar, the streaks are incomparable to KU’s. UCLA was college basketball in the late-60s and 70s. Every big recruit went out west to play for John Wooden’s dynastic Bruins. Gonzaga and UNLV were big fishes in little ponds. Not that their achievements weren’t impressive, but doing it against Texas and Oklahoma is far more impressive than doing it against St. Mary’s and Pepperdine. 3. The Jayhawks are doing this against top competition. Kansas is winning in the best conference in college basketball (this year) and one of the top three (in the past 11 years). In 2014-15, the Big 12 has six teams in Kenpom’s top 25. The SEC has one: Kentucky. Texas is a yearly power under Rick Barnes. Oklahoma is a consistent NCAA tournament team. Kansas State had a brief run under Frank Martin. Missouri had some fine years before bolting for the SEC. Fred Hoiberg has Iowa State playing its best basketball in years. West Virginia is a recent Final Four team (albeit from the Big East, before the move to the Big 12). And other surprise teams constantly sneak up, such as 30-win Baylor in 2012. The point is, it’s not easy to win one Big 12 title, let alone 11 in-a-row. 4. But don’t sleep on Kentucky just yet. Not that going undefeated in a major conference regular season is easy either. Here are the teams to do it since Indiana ran the table in 1976: Indiana State (1979), UNLV (1991), St. Joseph’s (2004) and Wichita State (2014). You’ll notice none of these teams came from a power conference either, which makes Kentucky’s 2014-15 run all the more impressive. But longevity always outweighs short-term dominance. However: If, in 33 days, Kentucky has finished its season with a national championship and 40-0 record, then we have a different story on our hands. But for now: KU > UK.
that shows how overrated the Big 12 has been, KU has dominated and only made 2 FFs one of which they wouldn't have made if Kendall Marshall doesn't get hurt.
Congratulations to the St. John's Red Storm. That win over Marquette should make them a lock for the NCAA Tournament, the 6th Big East team to do so!
