I saw that. Nobody knows for sure right now. It seems we're reading the same source. I want Spiller, but I have confidence in Ivory, and Powell too.
Powell is a marginal NFL talent at best. The idea behind free agency (especially when you are 4-12) is to get better, not to keep doing the same thing by recycling the same JAGs you've been losing with.
Quit paying attention to names and watch the player play. He's inconsistent and injury prone. Powell brings similar skill set at a much lower price tag. In 2013 Powell played solid for us when Ivory had injury issues. Then last season he's bumped down the depth chart because of CJ. Powell blocks well, can catch out the backfield, and he's a tough runner. Give him a bigger role and he'll produce.
Please explain how he's "injury prone"? Lol He got injured this past season but missed 3 games in his first 4 years in the league.
He's had nagging injuries which has affected his play. Whether it's ankle, quad, or shoulder injuries. He's never really been able to stay healthy. He gets credit for not missing many games.
How have they affected his play? His lack of carries has affected his play. Even this past season, he was splitting carries with Fred Jackson. I don't think you are aware of his career. He has had one injury, this past season. Other than that, he has had wear and tear the same as every other nfl player.
It could play a part in his inconsistency. Dealing with nagging injuries. We seen how Decker struggled with the hamstring injury this year. Or Ivory the year before. The Bills were literally begging for Spiller to take over the starting RB spot from Fred Jackson but Jackson got more carries simply because he was better.
Again, you're wrong. CJ Spiller was their main back at the start of the season. Until he got injured, Jackson was not splitting carries. In the first 5 games he had 67 carries. Fred Jackson had 42. On all accounts, Spiller was their featured back and until his injury, he was taking majority of carries
Like I said they were begging for Spiller to be the guy. But ultimately they gave more carries to Jackson because he was better. Spiller is talented but a little overrated.
But he would complete our collection:Milliner, McDougle, Harvin, and finally Spiller. Orthopedics wet dream series.
Powell's a good backup. No obvious weaknesses, but no obvious strengths either. He sure isn't a difference maker. Running with Ivory/Powell/draft pick/Richardson doesn't inspire me and won't worry many opponents, unless you strike gold in the draft. It almost guarantees we need to keep Harvin as a difference maker out of the backfield. I'd prefer to keep Powell as a backup to compete against a possible draft pick, or let him go if you're determined to draft RB. Release Harvin, sign Spiller and reinforce other weak areas - WR, OL, CB principally (deliberately avoiding the QB issue for the moment).
