-Management called him telling him "thank you for your service", he admits he won't be a Bill next year -CJ is someone that would have liked to play for 1 team for his career -Seems very articulate talking about the running game, and importance of RB -Panel joking about CJ going to Eagles now "Chip has my agent's phone number and I'm sure if he wants to call me he will" -Never played Chip's offense before, but I am able to play any running game style if needed -"Eagles getting a hard worker in Kiko, a student of the game, plays the whole field, a great player/great person...Never got into the hype" Going to break now, CJ to talk more about his pitch and what he is looking for later on.
There are so many RBs this year. This years RBs could be like last years WRs in terms of instant effectiveness in the league.
CJ Spiller is my favorite rb. All you guys trashing him don't understand how high his ceiling is. Yes he has had a good share of injuries, but if he is healthy, he could be EXTREMELY dynamic for us. I'm crossing my fingers here.
Wow. I want Spiller. Get it done, Mikey. Gurley or Gordon in round 2 would be awesome, in addition to adding CJ.
Unless some team is willing to overpay (Philly?), he is not going to cost that much. He is coming off 2 down years. If he prices himself out, you look at other guys or to the draft.
I don't think too many people think he's "all that". He would be splitting carries with Chris Ivory and if we are being honest, his ceiling is way higher than any running back we've had since maybe Curtis Martin. I don't think anyone is willing to toss his injury history out the window either. He had the best year of his career, and it was a damn good one, under our current OC in the same scheme we are going to run. It's a natural fit.
Yes, in fact Chip Kelly tried to trade for C.J. Spiller last year. I guess it happened before they pulled off the Sproles deal. I could see Chip going after C.J. now. Chip is all about speed at the skill positions.
Next on NFL Network, they are coming back to CJ Spiller, and asking him where will he playing next year
On the surface it's a great deal by Buffalo. McCoy was bad last year though. Maybe it was because of his O-line. But Sproles and even Chris Polk looked more dynamic running the ball. I would expect Shady to bounce back next year. But who knows. RBs don't last long in this league. Is it possible McCoy is already on the downside of his career?
I just think any contract you give Spiller is a waste. A 28 year old RB alone scares me. Factor in injuries and no above average season in over 2 years and its seems like people just holding up hope for a hyped up name. So many other guys could give us similar or better production IMO.
CJ Spiller back on NFL Network -Initial reaction of trade a shock, Willie Mcginest was trolling him in back room saying Kiko was traded for Mccoy -Spiller has some teams he likes, he does not know where he will play...Teams have reached out to him. So next they comments: -The guy next to Spiller from NFL Network said "There is a guy named Chan Gailey, where you had great success with" Spiller started laughing and says "Yup, I had my best year there" The guy from NFL Network says "THERE YOU GO!" (He def has interest with the Jets - Winning is the most important thing, play-callers is very important for him, including a the O-line and QB - He is very much looking forward to go back to Buffalo, people are joking with him that he has that twinkle in his eyes lol - Green is the color of Eagles and NY Jets, possible landing spots for CJ Spiller. He has a smile the whole time. -CJ looks like he wants to play for the Jets pretty much
Wow, McCoy will only have a few good years left at a huge cap hit, Alonso will be a pro bowler for many years, and is currently cheap. Eagles won this trade easily.
How do you have to replace him when we were a top 5 defense without him and already have too many good linebackers? He wasn't here last year and our defense was better. We certainly dont need to "replace" him.
Like I said before, any RB taken in the first 4 rounds could come in and give us production. And we wont have to worry about him not getting up after every single tackle. You dont sign a guy like Spiller when the draft class is that deep. As top heavy as it is with wideouts there are 7-8 RBs that could step in next season and make an impact on a team. No reason to think we cant snag atleast 1 of em.
