The Bills have traded for LeSean McCoy, which all but seals Spiller's fate in Buffalo. I think Spiller will be a Jet March 10th, maybe at midnight.
I think now that McCoy is there we have no contest for Spiller. He's been very public that he wants to either return to Buffalo or play for Chan Gailey, and now that one option is gone he has no leverage. It might even help us save a little money on him.
wow, very good move for Buff imo.. looks like McCoy for Alonzo straight up, unless i'm missing something. something tells me this means keeping David Harris away from Buff might be difficult. in terms of Spiller, i don't trust him. all that potential never materializes, and the injuries pile up. that's why Buff is moving on. would have to be an inexpensive deal to make it worth the risk.
Terrible move for Buffalo, actually. Have to replace a great LB and they paying over 10mm to McCoy who has no line to run behind or a QB to keep defenses honest.
Alonzo was never going to fit in a 3-4, and is coming off an ACL tear. they got good value in return, and a dynamic playmaker. they will of course need a QB and Oline help big time. i don't believe Incognito will bring much, but they did mention they are not done with the line. QB is another story. they are fucked as we are there.
This is awesome! CJ Spiller is almost guaranteed to be with us soon, and likely at a reduced price. I think Buffalo made a very dumb move here. RBs have a very short shelf life and are not of high priority in this league anymore. Kiko Alonso has a very bright future and could be a dominant player very soon. For a straight up trade, I think Philly really made out. Especially with all of the backs coming out of college this year
I'd take Spiller for about $4 Mil a year over 3 years. RB is not very valued and not expensive so why not replace Harvin's big contract with Spiller's minuscule contract? On another note, what the HELL are the eagles doing? Cut Trent Cole and trade McCoy? Alonso just tore his ACL and why wouldn't a defensive guy like Ryan want to keep him if he's that good? McCoy just can't command a big contract at the RB position and he was decimating defenses last year. Chip Kelly is certainly doing a lot now that he's the head of personell decisions.
Reports are that Philly made this move with the intention of signing C.J. Spiller. First of all, that would suck for us. Second, if they manage to pull that off, this becomes and absolute HOSING for the Bills. Essentially CJ + Alonso for McCoy.
this is great for us getting mariota, mccoy was a huge trade chip and that chip is gone. bad as a jets fan, i would never have imagined seeing mccoy in the afc east. we'r ein for a couple beatings
No reason to spend $$ on Spiller. We could get Melvin Gordon or another RB in the draft. Literally 4 rounds worth of studs that can be ours for next to nothing $$ wise. Spend the cash on the positions that are more important. Plus what happens when Spiller goes down in Week 4? Then what?
C.J. Spiller live on NFL Network acknowledges he will not return to Buffalo, as indicated by Bills management
Gurley is the only guy thats sure to go 1st round. No reason to think Gordon cant be there at pick 38 or w/e we are in the 2nd. Could even trade up for him if needed. But the point is there are so many good RB's in the draft. And they wont come with an overpriced contract or injury concerns.
