    :) The others just don't care about Nemtsov. Putin does one thing that Russians have always loved - standing up to the West. As long as Putin keeps doing that, he will be popular, regardless of all the other stuff.

    Maybe for those in the military but many Russians are quite unhappy but are too scared to say/do anything...and events like this is why.

    Don't get me wrong, there are a majority of russians who would rather be prideful and stay there but believe me when I tell you, there are lots who just wanna gtfo of there

    I'm sure you're old enough to remember 99.9% election records of every communist leader, from Stalin to Kruschov, to Brezhnev to Gorbachev.

    I don't think people realize how much movie-making has sucked since the Cold War ended and stole from us a whole genre of entertainment. If Vladimir Putin is angling toward bringing that back, I could definitely be swayed. Cloak-and-dagger spies whipping around all of Europe, dropping off secret film hidden in a pack of smokes, hot Russian double agent chicks, big furry mink hats - good times. We're stuck now with a Hollywood that's out of ideas but still keeps trying to make us like their Middle East-based bullshit stories that try so goddamn hard to weave a message and a plot together, all but a select few are unwatchable. It saddens me to the point where I want to rent Rambo III, if only to watch perhaps the only movie on record to adequately give us BOTH a Cold War hero story and a watchable movie set in Afghanistan. With great writing.

    Mousa: This is Afghanistan... Alexander the Great try to conquer this country... then Genghis Khan, then the British. Now Russia. But Afghan people fight hard, they never be defeated. Ancient enemy make prayer about these people... you wish to hear?
    Rambo: Um-hum.
    Mousa: Very good. It says, 'May God deliver us from the venom of the Cobra, teeth of the tiger, and the vengeance of the Afghan.' Understand what this means?
    Rambo: That you guys don't take any shit?
    Mousa: Yes... something like this.

    <sigh>

    Surviving the snow. Barely. Hope you are also.

    Pissed off that my Netflix stream of Rambo III is being throttled down, while the ISIS Twitter feed is humming along nicely. All because of something Woody Johnson did or didn't do to fuck around with me. /thread cross-over. :)

    Well, if Rambo III doesn't pick up Cinemax is showing Lone Survivor ad nauseum... More Afghani scenery...if you can stomach Marky Mark...

    Putin ordering 'take out' didn't spark a riot but fwiw it did prompt a a here-today-gone-tomorrow demonstration gathering for the EuroNews media two days ago.
