awesome, someone else who doesn't know the facts of the situation. the media across the Country posted false accounts of what happened at Carolina so add the tribune to it. I wish real journalists would take the time to either look up the facts or investigate the facts on their own rather than take the lazy way out like folks like joe take. any take on K knowing about Sulaimon's 2 alleged sexual assaults for the past year?
I've been going to bat for beleagured UNC today, citing their competitive pre-conference play against foes from the Big East, Big 10 and SEC (even if the Big East et al ended up defeating them) as well as their win over Ohio State when no less a respected journal than the Chicago Tribune (a/k/a "The World's Greatest Newspaper" and winner of well over 20 Pulitzer Prizes) and the rest of the country were calling for UNC's head and look what happens… Attacking the messenger? Now THAT's lazy. Since you seem have a problem, I suggest you take your own Pulitzer Prizes and take it up with the Chicago Tribune. If this abusive trolling is the price I must pay to stand up for UNC, so be it. Right is right, wrong is wrong and truth is truth. I will not be intimidated into silence - I will continue to present UNC as an example of "carrying on/business as usual" no matter what challenges or allegations are hanging over their head. UNC doesn't shrivel up in the face of accusations directed their way and neither will I. Somebody has to stick up for them. If they can show this resolve under the cloud that's been swirling around Chapel Hill (forget last year's "rental cars," etc.), then maybe 'this could be the year their FF drought ends.'
Nothing has been proven as far as the basketball program doing anything wrong. The football program did and they have already been punished. It's quite comical how "journalists" will pick up a story w/o reading the report or gathering the facts. I would expect it from clowns like joe, it's sad when "journalists" do it.
joe- there's also this that came out over the weekend: "Former UNC official says pressure led to improper graduate admission of athletes" "In an interview, Cheryl Thomas, the graduate school’s admissions director from 2002 to 2010 said that roughly once a year during her eight years as admissions director, someone from the athletics department or the UNC administration would contact her with a request to find a place for an athlete. The last she received involved Justin Knox, a basketball player who had graduated from the University of Alabama in 2010 but still had one more season of eligibility. She said admitting unqualified athletes to highly competitive graduate school programs so they can continue playing is fundamentally wrong. UNC’s graduate school typically rejects about two-thirds of the roughly 15,000 students who apply each year. “You can’t turn down thousands of people and say yes to one just so he can play basketball,” she said. http://www.newsobserver.com/2015/02...official-pressure-led.html?rh=1#storylink=cpy look at some of the comments: ---"Death penalty for revenue sports -- I say that as a UNC grad." -"Ditto from this UNC grad" ---"I am so freaking embarrassed I believed in "The Carolina Way." silly journalists!!!!!
And the personal attacks continue…. In other words, what you're trying to say (with your whining) is: Got it.
why aren't you more concerned w/ K possibly covering up multiple sexual assaults by one of his players for the past year? rather than worrying about Justin Knox who was Salutatorian of his HS class and had near a 4.0 at Alabama before his transfer.
you have nothing, that is true. I thought you'd be smarter than to just post incorrect media reports but I was wrong.
because there isn't an incredibly naive, ignorant, Duke fan here with his head in the sand like there is with UNC....
incredibly naïve and ignorant describe you perfectly, you are embarrassing yourself posting this nonsense. you are as clueless about this as you are when you try to discuss football. Do some research then get back to me.
Ah, the "I know what you are but what am I?" gambit. Original. Followed by more empty ad hominems. …….gas light's on… Admissions Director? What would she know? What would Mary Willingham know? Nothing to see here, move along….
rather than allow 2 awful posters to derail this thread let's get back to talking college basketball.
New rankings out - Gonzaga ranked #7. Interesting though, here Gonzaga loses to an unranked team and drops twice as many spots than UNC who also lost this past week to an unranked team and yet only dropped 2 measly spots. dropped 4 spots in AP, 1 in Coaches poll. as of now it looks like they are a 5 seed, a good week this week and a nice run in the ACC tourney could get them up to a 3 or even 2(they'd have to run the table for that so not likely).
This thread has been off the rails since page 1, don't give us this crap about you wanting to talk serious basketball only stuff now. Now that UNC-related off the court stuff has been brought up
'Nova dropped from 6th to 8th in AP and from 3 to 8 in coaches http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings/_/poll/1/week/9/seasontype/2 http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings/_/poll/2/week/9/seasontype/2
if you have something relevant and factual please post but clearly you have no clue what is going on other than sensationalized media reports. here's some light reading for you. when you read the whole thing get back to me w/ your thoughts. http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/1344054-full-wainstein-report.html
I did post something relevant and factual. That report came out saturday (relevant? CHECK) and had direct quotes from a university administrator (factual? CHECK).
