Hobbes wants to cut bait on this year's first round pick so we can draft a guy next year who potentially could be a back up this coming season at Ohio State. Very Hobbes-esque.
Why should we try the league with a sorry receiver like Crabtree? If we open our mouths (and checkbooks) about him chances are someone would shut it real quick. That's the result we gonna get.
What are you smoking? I know you LOVE OSU, but c'mon don't be so silly. Devin Smith is a 1 trick pony. Cooper is the complete package.
White will be gone before the Jets second round pick because he is a surefire top 10 pick and perhaps the best receiver in the draft. Your boy Smith however, will probably be there in the second round.
Jones will not be a back up. Jones enters the draft next year. JT sits behind Jones this upcoming season, and FWIW...If Mariota got outplayed by OSU's potential backup, what does that say about the Duck?
Yeah, the famous Buddy Ryan quote about Cris Carter comes to mind. "All he does is catch touchdowns" Smith plays in an offense where he's never the primary target. He ran a 4.42.. And he gets open down the field big. And...He'd have been twice as productive if he was not having to come back to the ball. Don't take my word for it, read is NFL Draft scouting report. Like Mariota, some picks look good because they get covered, This guy is the one that gives a GM 3 extra years on his life.
I've seen a good amount of OSU games, he's no-where near as good as Amari Cooper. He's a very good vertical threat in the mold of DeSean Jackson and Torrey Smith. Cooper is like a Antonio Brown / Reggie Wayne mix.
Let's relax on 12 gauge until he's shown more consistently - if Jones starts this season @ OSU - and performs well - then his stock will be up. Teams have tape on him now, should be interesting to see.
fwiw, PFF had Crab ranked 95th out of 110 WR's. in the same company of fading vets like Hakeem Nicks and David Nelson, and struggling overrated prospects like Tavon Austin and Marquise Lee. He's a possession WR, who is not particularly effective in the red zone. 5 TD's total in the last 2 years combined. that's not an impact guy, and not someone you overpay for. throw in the shitty attitude and injury history.....I'd def look elsewhere..
