http://www.metro.us/sports/willie-colon-likely-done-with-jets/zsJoca---C3EzbDiH72Y/ I liked him as a locker room guy, but i understand the reasoning
Too many penalties. We could upgrade if we wanted to today with the recent cuts from Atlanta and Green Bay so front office likely holding out for a bigger name in free agency NEXT WEEK.
I agree here. We have to start thinking long term. I loved having the guy on the team, but won't miss all the flags he got.
Turbocharged: We don't need big names, we need tougher players with smarts and some speed. Then we can run more pulling plays for the RB's.
Colon is most likely toast, and his departure highlights our growing weaknesses along the o-line, especially with gold and brick aging. Read somewhere where Dallas pumped huge draft resources into their o-line over the last 3 drafts, kind of like we did with our d-line, but now they have a growing and dominant front 5 that can carry the offense. We have not ignored our o-line, from taking ducase (sp) in the 2nd to a bunch of new guys the last 2 years to our new RT from, seattle. It hurts that we continue to invest in our o-line but at the end of the day it continues to be a growing weakness. wtf? I'm in favor of FAs for the oline.....guys who've developed and proven they belong and will be expensive. Mawae and Faneca come to mind. Drafting rookies takes so long to develop, if they develop at all, I don't mind dropping coin on tried and true lineman.
The best part of that article is that we will be players in the Boling, and Franklin sweepstakes. Those are 2 great, young players I would love to sign.
