I don't think this is a bad signing for Jacksonville at all.

You all are making fun of this because of his terrible personnel skills, but they signed him to purely be a cap guy. He will have ZERO say in personnel moves.

"Idzik, who was fired by the Jets in late December, will not have a role in player evaluation but will work with the team's salary-cap department, the source said. Idzik will work alongside Tim Walsh, the team's director of football administration and the person responsible for managing the salary cap."

He is a very good cap guy and is back doing what he does best. Can't see this is a bad hire at all.

Jacksonville needs consultation on how to build a terrible football team?

What did he do with the Jets that qualifies him as a "very good cap guy"? All he did was cut and trade players to get under the cap. He didn't orchestrate any masterful contracts or restructure anybody, he didn't do anything worthy of praise in that department. He is as unproven a cap guy as he was a GM.

I didn't say he was proven with the Jets

No, you said he was a very good cap guy which sort of sounds like you think he was proven

He is lol he worked with Seattle for years as a cap guy and was very good at it, hence why he was recognized for a GM position. He was always praised by fellow coaches and executives for his cap management expertise. This is why people were so upset at us hiring him as a GM. He had great experience as a cap guy but none with personell.

I guess I know where you are coming from now, although perceived success in Seattle is one thing and providing examples of his great prowess as a cap expert with a team that is constantly up against the cap is another

Never wished ill on him either and honestly wish him the best of luck going forward... Despite the fact that some of our antics were a bit over the top (understatement), it was never personal. We just wanted Woody to know how seriously we felt about not having him in place to navigate us through this critical offseason... The fact that his next job is as an assistant to the cap specialist for the worst franchise in the NFL just goes to show how the rest of the NFL felt about his job performance here.

On a human level, it is good to see that he will be getting a paycheck from the Jets for the next two years AND a second paycheck from the Jags. All those people that wrote to us complaining about how terrible it is to campaign to get a man fired and hurt his ability to "provide for his family" - another silly theory debunked.

When we first started campaigning for Idzik's removal, I would say this forum was 50/50 on whether or not Idzik should still be here in 2015.... It is about 99.9/.1 now that Woody did the right thing by getting him out. Happy to see the other half finally saw the light.

Yeah he gets a paycheck for the next 2 years, that's better then what he did to the coaching staff. The bulk of the coaching staff had one year contracts last year, which clearly indicates he was going to clean house after he fired Rex. His plan backfired and he got more than he deserved! How many jobs even pay your vacation balance when your terminated? F*^k em and feed him fish heads.

Why was it written and argued how good he was at evaluating and scouting? Many of our fans and newspapers glowed over this. The only real thing he was good as was doctoring his resume with the help of (friends) in Seattle. JMO

Yup, In fact he wasted money and a draft choice on a player who may not be here this year. A poor move for a cap specialist made in desperation.

I have to agree with this. All he did was bail Seattle out of a contract and an overpriced player they didn't want, cost us a pick and 7 1/2 million of the precious 20 million, and the season was already lost! Mac should cut Harvin just to get clear of this awful desperation trade. Take the 4th round pick and get a younger cheaper player.

Hasn't even one reporter tried to get his side of the story. Or is he just stonewalling all of them. He's better off anyways with no access to the press and as probably the 5th or 5th ranking person in their front office he won't be involved with the press. He proved he wasn't up to that here. As for his skills as a GM otherwise he wasn't horrible and not the only person responsible for the 4-12. Nobody wanted to fire him after the 8-8. And btw if Geno Smith ends up being a decent NFL starting Qb that was his pick. And the one that got him into most of his trouble.

The Percy deal was a good trade. And worth a 6th round pick. We had no real impact player and when Harvin was made available (he wasn't available at the beginning of the season) he jumped on it and probably there were other teams interested who made offers, too. Everyone said he didn't want to spend money and basically did nothing. But it was a chance to get someone who was a playmaker in the past incl. in the previous SB. But as with almost everything else it didn't work out here. IMO you have to toss some of this onto the coaching staff. And btw Percy did look pretty good at times. But to kill him for using our salary cap when everybody else in the world killed him for not using it is beyond me. Plus there was no guaranteed money left on his deal so if it didn't work out they were not stuck with his salary.

He was always terrible. The jets were one of the luckiest teams ever to go 8/8 that year. He immediately depleted the roster and had no clue what to do. Like I said all along, the head hunting firm that got him hired pulled off the impossible. To your next point, harvin deal wasn't bad, the problem was he did this move when the jets were headed no where and he had spent no money in the offseason to address team needs. So let's bring harvin in when we're 1/6 and pay the balance of his 10.5 million dollars deal. Idzik if ever remembered ,will be remembered as aone of the worst gms in all of sports. He was that bad.

He wasn't terrible but if you insist on blaming him for everything than go ahead. And the Revis trade was a good, smart deal. He really had no choice. No matter what Woody says to save face it was well known (and Woody even admitted it in his presser) that they couldn't work with his agents who had signed deals and then still held out). Don't get me wrong he didn't do a good job. But this reaction to our 4-12 blaming him for everything makes about as much sense as the Tea Party holding up Homeland Security because they hate Obama.

Let's start with this Obama sucks too. Lol.. Don't blame idzik for the revis trade. But a gm with a brain, resigns him after he was cut, ego hurt and wants to return. I don't pull all the blame on him for 4/12 season, I liked rex Ryan alloy and I think he did a terrible job. Idzik was awful, can you tell me a gm that has done a worse job? He really was that bad.

    Allow me to respond...

"The Percy deal was a good trade. And worth a 6th round pick. We had no real impact player and when Harvin was made available (he wasn't available at the beginning of the season) he jumped on it and probably there were other teams interested who made offers, too."

***Totally wrong... It was a terrible trade because it cost us 7 million dollars in cap rollover money to bring in a guy who - if we keep - costs us 10.5 million dollars AND a 4th round draft pick... And do you have evidence that any other team was inteterested in him? Or is that pure speculation?***

"Everyone said he didn't want to spend money and basically did nothing. But it was a chance to get someone who was a playmaker in the past incl. in the previous SB. But as with almost everything else it didn't work out here."

***he didn't spend money.. And in this instance, he gave up a draft pick to waste cap rollover money and bring in a guy who was way overpaid and has a history if injuries - not to mention a questionable character in the locker room... All this for a 2 month rental WR on a 1-6 team.***

"IMO you have to toss some of this onto the coaching staff. And btw Percy did look pretty good at times. But to kill him for using our salary cap when everybody else in the world killed him for not using it is beyond me.
