So we should be hoping to land a one in a million shot? No, Manning and Luck aren't in this draft. But Jameis Winston is. And I believe that he is going to be an absolute stud. But the point is, 2 meaningless wins that some folks on here celebrated took us out of contention for him. It's absolutely frustrating to suck, but not suck enough apparently.

QB's are a completely different breed than RBs. We need a franchise guy and are missing out on one of the top 2 because of 2 meaningless wins.

we don't know if we are missing out on the top 2 and we don't know if the top 2 will be successful at this level. Bush was a can't miss guy, everyone wanted to tank for him.

I am not going to tank for a lottery ticket.

I don't think anyone was throwing a parade over winning those games but I sure was happy and still am. Good organizations find talent no matter where they draft.

Unless there is a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck waiting at the top of the board. I don't believe in losing to secure a higher draft pick. It really makes no difference it's all about how you use your draft pick.

even if Peyton or Luck are there(we had the #1 pick when Peyton was supposed to come, we won 1 game. Peyton went back to school, we traded back and had a mediocre LB for 5 years before he blossomed w/ another team) why would I root for the Jets to lose? If I had the power to change the outcomes based on how I rooted we'd win the SB every year.

"Sucking, but not Sucking enough" has hurt many, many teams. Look at the 3 longest playoff droughts:

    1) Buffalo: 15 years, never gotten a no.1 overall pick in that stretch.
exhibit A of an organization that has sucked, but not enough
2.) Oakland : 12 years, 1 time they've had the no.1 overall pick in that stretch and they swung and missed. Even still if they took Calvin Johnson they wouldn't be on this list
    3) Cleveland: 12 years, never gotten a no.1 overall pick in that stretch
exhibit 1A of an organization that has sucked, but not enough.

Where as we have Carolina, Detroit, Indy, KC, Miami, etc.... teams that sucked enough to get no.1 overall picks in recent years and in turn were rewarded rather rapidly with playoff appearances and multiple playoff appearances.

It isn't about being excited about the draft. It's about being in position to draft what many people are calling the best QB prospect other than Andrew Luck and not having that opportunity because of two meaningless wins when we are 2-11. I hope we can make a move to bring in a new QB, but it is completely out of our hands right now. I hardly see the value of two wins in a waste of a season versus the possibility of drafting a potentially elite QB.

Because they are a once in a generation talent. Unless we are getting a QB of that level if we tank, I do not believe in losing. Lol at tanking for Mariota.

It still amazes me that there are people trying to shame fans for being happy to see their team win. Fans being happy for a win has no effect on what the team was doing on the field, but for some reason people need to shit on the idea that winning a game could have some enjoyment for some people in a truly terrible season, against a hated rival no less.

It almost seems like the Lose At All Costs crowd needs to do this to make themselves feel better because of the subconscious pangs of guilt they won't admit to feeling for rooting for their team to lose are lessened by trying to shame the ones that enjoyed the win. Get over it, not everybody spends a bad season living in Madden mode.

Buffalo has drafted top 5 3 times over that span
    Oakland as drafted 2nd, 1st, 4th and 5th
    Cle has drafted 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 3rd.

Carolina was rewarded rapidly? didn't make payoffs until 3rd year w/ Newton and went one and done. Made it this year w/ losing record
Detroit drafted a QB # in 2009, they have 2 playoff apps since 2009 and ZERO playoff wins. Jets have 2 playoff apps since 2009 and 2 title game apps
    Indy is an extreme example
KC has been so great they haven't won a playoff game since Joe Montana was heir QB
what playoff apps has Miami made? they have 1 playoff app since 2002 and they were blown out in WC rd at home(made playoffs mostly b/c Brady got hurt).

Well obviously... We all want that. However, when we are 2-11 I can guarantee you we won't be drafting 32nd... Unless of course we make some draft day trades.

nothing is guaranteed the higher we draft though and again I can't control wins and losses based on how I root. I can't root against them, if they lose am I as annoyed as I would be if they were in the race? of course not but I can't root for them to lose under any circumstances.

RB's don't turn franchises around. QB's do. it's a completely different story. I want this team to be the next dominant team. I hope we can find someone to lead it, but we are missing out on one of these top two QBs.

I know nothing is guaranteed. Winston could get himself thrown in jail a month after the draft. Mariota may never be able to adjust to the NFL. But we are in a desperate need to find a franchise QB. And not having the opportunity because of two meaningless wins kills me. Especially with how high I feel about Winston. We sucked... but not enough

Not the wrong QBs and we had a good QB at the time while Curtis' career just ended.

we may have an opportunity, we don't know yet.

what kills me is missing the playoffs, losing those title games. the draft is a crapshoot, I don't get too worked up over the draft.

    You're a bad fan.

    Lol.

Bad fans care not about the future and are mired in idiotic sophistry about winning a meaningless game against an opponent that hasn't been a real rival for a decade.

I'm only arguing my position. Folks calling me specifically a bad fan because I'd prefer a higher draft pick are douchebags. I've been a STH since 2000 and travel twice a year to away games and haven't missed a game in 20 years.

I only care about how my team can get better, not about puffing my chest out because we beat an old shitty rival that was out of the playoffs.
