It showed that as a youngster, he made some money pulling scams. It worked for him but he wasn't happy with it. But later in life when it came time to make his move into big-time law, he needed another scam. The guy falling off the billboard was a total scam to put him in the public eye. He couldn't get any of the real news channels or print media to take his story about being put down by the big bad law firm, so when he saw the college student in the hallway of the courtroom, that percolated the idea of him filming that "piece" about the billboard coming down, but he was scamming the whole time. I think we will see this as a recurring theme. _

I think we will too. I knew everything with the billboard, but this thread was making it sound like the 2 incidents in this past episode were related to each other directly.
No not directly. Just showing the parallel to his youth. I think they did something similar in the first or second episode when, as a youth, he went to see his brother talking about fake slip and fall accidents and then he ran the scam with the two skateborders as an adult. _
I'm in the amazeballs position of not having watched any BB or being aware of it above the level of "isn't the guy from MitM in it?" so I plan to watch this without any conception of it being a spin-off or previous knowledge of the character.
One of the great things about BB, for me, was the soundtrack and songs. Got turned on to some great tunes, and artists too. During Episode 4, while Jimmy was in his office and brakes out the cash he took from the Kettleman's a song starts up. I recognized it immediately from a record my old man had and I would listen to way back when. These shows never stop grabbing me. I wasn't sure where this would go measuring up to BB, but it's great. Jimmy/Saul is some kind of character. ''It'sall good man'', he said to the mark, after the mark asked his name...lol. Hence where the name came from. Jimmy McGill...He's a fuckin' scoundrel...in a world of shit...But he's tryin', lol
A throw away episode until the last 5 minutes. We are about to see Saul's initiation into the serious criminal element. And Mike's past coming to haunt him. Series should take off from here. _
I'm assuming maybe Mike violated a restraining order by his daughter, and she called the cops on him? Wait, I just saw the preview. She’s his widowed daughter-in-law. I can’t wait until we find out more about him.
I keep thinking about that quasi-GF of his. They are obvious very close friends, yet she is nowhere in BB. I think there is something very dark in store for her, probably will become the last straw that turns Jimmy into Saul.
You have to figure, it's 6 years earlier and they had to create a backstory that doesn't necessarily 100% tie into BB. But, yeah, because they've created a love interest for him 6 years earlier, it's likely she's not long for this Earth. _
