Some thoughts: 1) Could not be happier with how Villanova is playing right now, as well as the lack of press coverage they are receiving. Will be thrilled to get that 2-Seed, more so than the 1. 2) Wisconsin was a surprise to me. This was the one team I thought was playing at a level needed to beat Kentucky, and the go and do this? 3) Approaching 90 days since Gonzaga has played a team with a prayer of making the NCAA Tournament.
If 'Nova wins out they will get a 1 seed, even w/ 1 loss(as long as it isn't in BET) I think they will have a great shot.
I wouldn't want the 1-Seed because it would eliminate any chance of Villanova sneaking under the radar and in reality would but a TON of pressure on them. What exactly are they rising over: The dregs of the NCAA that is the WCC?
I 100% guarantee you Villanova will be the hot pick to reach the FF for most of the "experts" whether they are a 1 or 2 seed assuming they aren't in UK's bracket. 'Nova is not under the radar to anyone paying attention to CBB.
Junc, you have been watching NCAA hoops for a long time; Can you think of a worse conference that produced a 1-seed than this year's WCC? Last year's Missouri Valley was better. Ditto the Atlantic 10 conference that produced St. Joseph's as a 1-Seed years ago!
Villanova is so balanced on offense and defense that I would give them an above-average punchers chance against UK.
Probably not in my lifetime but I don't recall all the 1 seeds. I do know Gonzaga is really good but I also wish they were tested more but they play where they play. the year St. Joe's was a 1 the A10 was bad, Interestingly enough the only ranked team they beat all year was Gonzaga at MSG. I think the A10 was a little stronger but Gonzaga's non conf sched was tougher.
