You may have heard but in 2005 the eventual Nat'l Champs beat 'Nova after a proper call late which came after bogus calls to foul out Raymond Felton. which is a complete joke, no offense. I am happy for you and I root for SJU but they shouldn't even be in the discussion. 8-7 in BE have lost to every ranked team they have played didn't beat a single tourney bound team in non conf based on projections the only tourney bound teams they have beaten have been mediocre Xavier and Providence teams.
By the way, Ga tech lost by 1 to UL. Carolina beat them by 29(and the score was much closer than the game), in their last 6 losses removing the Carolina game they lost by a TOTAL of 16 pts including games at duke and vs. UL.
Which foul on Felton are you referring to? I can't find a single video, article, new account, press release, or blog post about an improper call on Felton in that game anywhere. I can find literally dozens of pieces on the bogus travel call by that crooked ACC hack Tom O'Neil, though.
not foul, FOULS. they fouled him out on ticky tack garbage. the only reason 'Nova was even in the game was b/c of the awful foul calls against Felton. Here's Roy who never criticizes officials: http://northcarolina.scout.com/story/363266-unc-vu-north-carolina-post-game-quotes-audio http://aging-disgracefully.com/blog/archives/2005/03/bloody_friday.html the better team won and the team that played better that night and deserved to win won despite the officials almost handing the game to 'Nova.
^^^ That was good.......hahahha!!! Now if you said something along the lines of "the Big East isn't that strong" or "the Big East is not deserving of 6 ncaa bids," that would be very reasonable since I myself don't see 6 NCAA-worthy Big East teams in the hunt. But when your emotions start getting the better of you and you resort to ratcheting up the derisive rhetoric with sweeping, perjorative statements along the lines of "the Big East is an absolute joke," then obviously it's more than just the 'basketball' in play here psychologically-speaking, at which point you can no longer (using any reasonable standard) be taken seriously anymore. You really should try embracing 'reality' as a trueism and not an arbitrarily self-proclaimed possession that you self-righteously trot out into the discussion at every other turn. But enough about your Big East psychosis....let us re-focus....on your Big East psychosis: 'Mediocre' Providence fwiw is 3-0 vs. the ACC including Notre Dame (who has beaten both Duke & UNC). Also included in that Providence-ACC list is Miami who soundly beat Duke and was easily handled by the Friars while FSU who went down to the wire against both UNC and Duke was crushed by Providence 80-54. And, Providence is currently ranked in the top 25. Reality. As for 'mediocre' Xavier, the Musketeers have beaten 3 ranked teams including crushing defeats of Butler (who has beaten UNC) and G'town. Further, if Butler, Providence and even Big East bottom-feeder Marquette's "vs. ACC" record should serve as any indicator, Xavier has not had any ACC teams on their schedule that they might 'pad' their W-L record with. Reality. MParty, was that last second Xavier gang tackle on the SJU guy who snagged the final rebound hillarious or what?! That looked like a Rex-designed all out blitz seeing them all crashing to the floor....crunch!! : )
So to make sure I am clear, your impartial source for unjust refereeing against UNC in that game is the UNC Coach?
Well would you expect anything different? This is the same guy, who in response to UNC academic fraud allegations, cited "Inside Carolina" as his source in the matter.
BTW, here are three impartial experts questioning the Tom O'Neil travelling call in that game, none of whom are employed by Villanova University
a guy who never complains about officiating- yes. some people thought Ray travelled and others didn't, by the book it was a clear travel. again, the only reason the game was close was b/c of the way they officiated Felton out of the game. actually I cited the investigation but reading isn't your thing.
we are going to play the team a beat team b who beat team c game? SJU has beaten 2 teams that are tourney bound, none even a potential top 4 seed. Xavier is 8-8 in the might BE and both of their ranked wins came against BE teams who are no longer ranked including one team that has no shot at the Tourney. Impressive! and Xavier lost to LB State who got crushed by UCLA who got crushed by UNC. we can all play this game. Nice win by Providence over ND, anything can happen in one game which is how BC beat Providence I guess, right? or did you forget BC plays in the ACC? it is easy to forget.
nyjunch, SJU deserves a tourney bid this year...Although they are not as impressive as I thought they were going to be. In fact, I am dissapointed in Lavin with his teams. As a SJU alum I am frustrated but last night was a big win. We are a up and down team, we got destroyed against Georgetown. There is still plenty of time to see how things play out, but right now we are no longer on the bubble. Calm your horses. Btw, Sir'Dominic Pointer is such a funny player...Dude has a great name and always finds himself in highlights (good and bad)
That's doesn't prove the he is impartial. He clearly had a measure to gain by complaining about officiating against his own team. That's like saying we should let any suspect of any infraction free should they have no proven prior infractions. Again, you state something like it is factual when it is absolutely not a fact. The very video I posted includes the studio hosts sharing the definition of travelling they gained from THE NCAA SUPERVISOR OF OFFICIATING (Clearly a non-partial source), and then dissected the situation, demonstrating that the referee incorrectly ruled which foot was Allen Ray's pivot foot on that shot. Therefore it was not a travel by the book. And again, there is not a single impartial source anywhere that shares your opinion on this matter.
Just putting things into perspective which is needed when "absolute joke" rhetoric is capriciously thrown in so as to scratch the "troll itch." More to the point, the top half of my post really spelled out the trolling b.s. in play here. 3-1.
And again, there is not a single impartial source anywhere that shares your opinion on this matter.[/QUOTE] who cares who says it, anyone who knows anything about basketball would agree but most people don't remember it b/c Carolina won. had the4y lost there would have been controversy about those awful calls. did you watch the clip? Seth Davis said he spoke w/ Hank Nichols and then he used his interpretation of what Nichols told him. nothing is fact, Nichols didn't say it was or wasn't a travel. he took 3 steps and before he even started driving he shuffled his feet. good call, better team and correct team won the game. was BE homer Bill Raftery not impartial enough?
Nice bitter cold snowy weekend up in Syracuse. Typical. Good eats and grog at Dinosaur BBQ 31,000 on and for the Pitt game. Since I'm not in the habit about complaining about the refs, I'll just say we lost fair and square. Such a great venue for college basketball. I wish we had this enthusiasm for football--it's been about a decade and a half since we packed that place. Campus looked beautiful all covered in 2 feet of snow One of my top 5 statues in the world--the Saltine Warrior One of the highlights (and lowlights) was meeting Roosevelt Bouie and Louie Orr after they retired their numbers (the lowlight being, on Rosie's jersey--they spelled his name Bowie - d'OH!--which they are fixing now). The Louie and Bouie Show was my first taste of college basketball at The Zoo that was Manley Fieldhouse--I had no idea what a blast college BBall was and that was a great time to start my fandom. So anyway, when I was a freshman in 1977, best pals Rosie and Louie used to eat at our dining hall frequently and invariably every time they came in, my buds would prod me to go up and stand next to Rosie whilst he was at the salad bar. He was just a tick under 7 foot, but he used to pick his hair up high so he looked like he was about 7'-4". So I'd stand there next to him in mock shame as they tried to figure out how far past his belly button I stood. I told him the story and he cracked up--a very very gracious and kind gentleman, my son snapped this picture of us. _
