All it would take would be Winston getting deposed for the lawsuit against FSU and a reporter picking up on it.
I wonder if any of the sheeple even watched JW play this season; the only thing I was in awe of was how badly he played and how apathetic he was in every first half... I'll very much enjoy watching this piece of human garbage be a colossal bust; thankfully not for the Jets since he's apparently the guaranteed top pick
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 32m32 minutes ago ESPN Draft guru Todd McShay said FSU's Jameis Winston will be his 2nd-highest rated QB prospect over last 10 years, behind only Andrew Luck. -___-
I have been on the fence with Winston and his off the field antics. People complaining about his picks in college didn't watch the throws the kid was making all year long. Mariota shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Winston when it comes to prospects in this draft, this kid was playing a different game. That being said I would be more than ok throwing the farm at TB and drafting Winston. If he doesn't work out, oh well how much better off would we be with another couple of Stephen hills, Dee milliners, Vernon Gholstons and Jace Amaro's ( even though I think Jace will be a decent TE), they are all were busts or not game changers. Shit people we need a qb to win in this league, I rather our FO has the balls to make a real move to turn this franchise legitimate instead of playing the safe card all the time.
Yet there were dozens of high horsed posters crapping on anyone who even hinted that those wins were worthless. So stupid. _
Dude stop already - you've been "bashing" Winston on every thread. May I add, with a small grain of intelligence if not any at all. Only an idiot would compare him to Jamarcus Russell. The question we should all ask is DID YOU WATCH JW this season?
That's McShay going overboard. He loved Sam Bradford in 2010 and graded him as a 98. If he puts Winston at 98 I'll be very surprised.
You really want to watch Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston try to play QB for the current Jets roster plus a few high priced average free agents and no #1 picks for a few years and no #2 pick this year? Ugh.
No we want to watch either of them 2 and 3 and for the next 12 years thereafter while this FO builds the team the right way through tge draft (including contributors from picks 3-7 like every other good team) and with through prudent spending if a good portion of our cap space. We want to have our Manning or Brady or Rogers or Big Ben or Brees or Luck. We want to be competitive year in and year out for the next decade plus. Not build out the rest of the roster and trot out a JAG at QB so we can maybe win a wild card every few years just to get summarily knocked out in the first round. We want a QB that gives us a chance to win every week. Not a guy "we can win with if we surround him with all pro talent and dumb down the playbook". _
The only way the Jets can trade up for Winston and get him is if they trade with Tampa. Why would Tampa trade out of no.1 overall and miss out on Winston? Its not happening unless the Jets offer something stupid. Even then they might not do it because they want Winston themselves. Tampa was smart and tanked, something the Jets should've done. They finished on a six game losing streak and insured they would go winless in December by sitting starters who were otherwise healthy, especially in their week 17 loss to N.O. where they were up 20-7 at halftime before sitting their top players and losing 23-20. They are rewarded with Jameis Winston for the next 10 years. We got to see a riveting win vs. Tennessee with two teams back and forth humping a football and a meaningless win vs. Miami so Rex could celebrate on his way out the door to Buffalo. Woo hoo. Owners should for the most part keep away from football operations except in cases like this. Johnson should've ordered the team experiment more with young, backup players down the stretch in an eye on the long term. Veterans that helped this team win down the stretch like Calvin Pace, Babin, Chris Ivory, Landry, etc should've been sitting. A Muhammad Wilkerson who was hurt after week 12 should've been put on the IR with orders from the top, instead of rushing him back so he could get 2 sacks in the final 2 games, etc.
No. Every hole we have can be addressed later in the draft or through free agency. I want a franchise QB. I want a guy that will allow us to win games for years to come. And what benefit will future first round picks have if we have no QB? We have had one of the worst situations in the national football league at QB for the last decade. We need a QB and we need one now. Yes, trade the farm and take a franchise QB. It's sad when we have to make comments like yours. Worry about the talent around a guy for him to succeed. That's sad man.
Because there are question marks about Winston in Tampa Bay. If we trade with them, they likely can still get Mariota at #6. And believe me, Tampa Bay would likely trade with what we would give them to get there.
